Every summer, Community Living tends a plot at the Ballenger Creek Park Community Garden, and this year it has truly flourished with the help of Master Gardeners Beth and Tim!

The people we support always look forward to this project, and, with the guidance of DSP Laura, it is a continual success. Laura creates engaging and fun opportunities for everyone to learn about gardening and caring for plants. This year, they enjoyed growing both cold- and warm-season crops, including radishes, cauliflower, lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, and more! 🫜🪏

We've had the wonderful opportunity to partner with Frederick County Parks and Recreation, MD Ballenger Creek Teaching Kitchen to offer group cooking classes for the people we support. From pasta making to quick and easy meals, everyone has been enjoying the delicious food they prepared themselves and is so proud of what they’ve accomplished. These sessions have been a fantastic way to build kitchen skills, boost confidence, and foster independence.

A huge thank you to Sarah, Krystal, Bastion, and the rest of the teaching kitchen staff, as they have been so wonderful to work with, and we are so grateful for their guidance!

We took a break for the summer but are ready to dive back into it in the fall!☀️🍂
