**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**
**Galion Public Library Temporarily Closed for Remediation; Curbside Service Available**
GALION, OH — The Galion Public Library is temporarily closed to the public following a sewer issue that occurred on May 6, 2026, which impacted the library's children's floor. Out of an abundance of caution, the building has been closed while professional remediation work is underway.
To continue serving the community during this time, the library will offer curbside pickup service until we can safely open the top floor to the public. Patrons may place holds through the library catalog at ohio.ent.sirsi.net or by calling (419) 468-3203, and staff will bring materials out to waiting vehicles.
The library team is working diligently with remediation professionals to restore the building to full operation as quickly and safely as possible. The Galion Public Library hopes to reopen the top floor to the public as soon as possible and the entire library by the end of summer 2026. Programming will be paused until August.
"We appreciate the patience and understanding of our community during this time," said Library Director Melissa Kipp. "We are committed to keeping our services accessible and look forward to welcoming everyone back as soon as possible."
Updates on the library's status and curbside hours will be posted to the library's website and social media channels.
