The Georgetown Fire Company is saddened to announce the passing of active life member and Treasurer, Tommy Rust, who answered his final alarm on April 14, 2026. Tommy dedicated an extraordinary 52 years of service to our community, including 41 years in the role of Treasurer.

Memorial Service Details

- Sunday, April 19th: 6 PM - 8 PM
- Monday, April 20th: 11 AM - 1 PM
- Location: Shorts Funeral Home, 609 E. Market St Georgetown, DE 19947

- Full Fireman’s Funeral:
- Date: Monday, April 20th
- Time: 1 PM
- Location: Shorts Funeral Home, 609 E. Market St Georgetown, DE 19947
- Attire: Full fireman’s uniform is requested for both days.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Tom Rust, a dedicated 52-year member and 41-year Treasurer of the Georgetown Fire Company.

Tom is survived by his wife, Fay, Vice President of our Auxiliary, and his daughter, Melissa, who is also a member of our Auxiliary.

Tom was an invaluable part of our organization, and his contributions over the years will not be forgotten. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. This is a significant loss for the Georgetown Fire Company and our entire community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Fay, Melissa, their family, and the entire fire company during this difficult time.
