Can you believe it's already been a week since the first day of school? It's been great to see our students and staff enjoying a great start to the school year. Superintendent Dixon even stopped by to welcome students back to DFE and help with student drop-off!

Perimeter meets Coding! 📐✨
Mrs. Hocott's class reviewed perimeter today while building crucial computational thinking skills with Blue-Bots! We put our math and computer science minds to work by:
🧩 Decomposing shapes into sides and corners.
🔍 Finding patterns in square and rectangle dimensions.
📝 Writing algorithms (step-by-step code) to trace the perimeters.
🛠️ Debugging their programs when the robot didn't land in the right spot!

Our first and third graders at Summer Reading Camp have been exploring the ocean and outer space this week. They are hard at work reading, writing, and asking lots of questions as they sharpen their literacy skills! Today was extra sweet as they created their own edible ocean ecosystem and moon phases! We can’t wait to see what these explorers and astronauts will learn about next week!
