Our Miss Cookie with the late Tomie dePaola back in 1993. She remembers him by remembering his stories.
Rest in Peace
Tomie DePaola September 15, 1934-March 30, 2020.
You have touched many children and adults with your stories. We honor you today!
DePaola reads from his picture book about his Irish grandfather, who was a butcher -- and a master storyteller.
HCL, and all children's book lovers, grieve the loss of one of the GREATS. Tomie dePaola, author and illustrator for so many beloved books. His love for art, for storytelling, and for family connection will continue to live on in his life's work. If you have not read his books, take time to seek one out. He knows how to tell a good story and connect with his readers.

Due to the fact that we are working with a partial staff, and because we have to do a 72 hour quarantine and sanitize each book/material left in the book drop before we check it in and shelve it, we are asking that you PLEASE KEEP your book/dvds/audiobooks at this time. We need to get caught up in this process. There are NO fines OR LATE fees right now. Most items should have automatically renewed until March 30th. If we do not open by the 30th, another 2 week extension will be granted. We are working with a limited number of gloves and disinfectant. So, keeping your materials until further notice is MUCH appreciated.
