Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind

Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind This is the official page for the Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind. A first rate, caring staff leads children through those doors each year.

Since 1893, the Montana School for the Deaf & Blind (MSDB) has evolved to meet the needs of each generation of children with vision or hearing loss. At MSDB, we open doors to the world for deaf and Blind children through the use of educational technology, creative expression, or ever-increasing new tools.

When your vocabulary word of the week is β€œOUTLANDISH”… you make an outlandish dance to go with it! πŸ˜‚πŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί

Learning vocabulary is a little more fun when you can dance your way through it! πŸ’™πŸ’›

MSDB was proud to attend the 2026 International AER Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, connecting with professionals dedicated to advancing services for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

Our team included our Superintendent, Outreach Director, Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI), and Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS). We were especially proud to have our COMS present at the conference, sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues from across the field.

Our team returned with new ideas, connections, and inspiration to strengthen the services we provide statewide. πŸ’™ πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ’›

Nothing gets MSDB staff moving quite like the sound of an ice cream truck! πŸ¦πŸ˜‚

We’ve been busy getting ready to welcome students back on Monday, August 24, so a little Friday fun was definitely in order. Cue the mad dash for ice cream!

A huge thank you to Frosty of Montana for stopping by, cooling us off, and helping us kick off the new school year with a little extra sweetness! πŸ’™πŸ’›

🏠 What’s New at MSDB?

As we get ready to welcome students back, here are two important updates for our Residential Life families:

πŸ“… Move-In Day: August 23 | 2:30–5:30 p.m.
Families should have received a letter with additional move-in information and details.

🚌 Travel Home Weekends
Sydney is your new contact for coordinating travel home weekends and will be working with families on travel schedules throughout the school year.

We’re excited to welcome everyone back and kick off a great new school year! πŸ’™πŸ’›

🎨 Happy International Chalk the Walk Day!

Since students aren't back on campus yet, we're celebrating with a fun preschool memory from last year. These young artists turned the sidewalk into a masterpiece!

We can't wait to see what this year's students create.
