BOOKS, BOOKS, AND MORE BOOKS!

The JDC has checked out over 4,000 books! The youth have enjoyed discovering books that spark their love for reading. Staff have seen youth, who do not enjoy reading or do not read, become avid readers because they find books that they thoroughly enjoy. And as a result, reading has become an invaluable part of their lives.

A special thank you to the Great Falls Public Library for all your dedication to JDC’s readers and Great Falls' readers. Libraries are one of the necessities in our community, and we appreciate you all.

TO ADD A LIBRARY TO A HOUSE IS TO GIVE THAT HOUSE A SOUL.

The center is proud to share that we partnered with the Great Falls Public Library to create a community library box in Lion’s Park. Our Recreation Coordinator Justin and youth built and painted the box.

A Little Free Library is a “take a book, share a book” free book exchange. They are another way for Great Falls Public Library to share books and the joy of reading!

Share a Book: Leave a book that you no longer need.
Take a Book: Take a book that interests you.
Build Community: Share the joy of reading with you neighbors.

We are proud to partner with Neighborhood Councils, the Park and Recreation Department and the littlefreelibrary.org to provide Little Free Libraries across Great Falls.

CHOICES IN THE 406

We welcomed the program “Choices in the 406.” It is an intervention program presented by Montana State Prison inmates who are dedicated to changing the lives of at-risk youth by advocating for youth to choose an advantageous path for one’s future.
Our youth heard compelling testimonials from inmates. They heard individuals sharing personal stories that resulted in severe consequences. With these stories, youth were inspired to attain a better understanding of their choices and how it influences their futures.
