Six Air Force EOD teams spent a week at Limestone Hills Training Area near Townsend, Montana, for Big Trouble, a field training exercise built to sharpen junior technicians against the full range of explosive threats — from IEDs and unexploded ordnance to chemical hazards. Pairing Airmen from installations across the country, the exercise pushed them to build the judgment, teamwork and resilience they'd need in a real-world deployed environment.

Leash up, Malmstrom. All dogs must be on a leash at all times in base housing—no exceptions. Leashing keeps pets, neighbors, and kids safe, and it's a housing requirement for every resident. Thanks for being a good neighbor.

When a hiker fell ill nine miles deep in the Beartooth Mountains on July 30, ground teams faced an all-night trek over rough terrain to reach her. So the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center called the 40th Helicopter Squadron.

Within the hour, an MH-139A Grey Wolf — call sign Air Force Rescue 11 — lifted off from Malmstrom into wildfire smoke and fading light.

Water Boil Notice Lifted

For Malmstrom AFB

Bioenvironmental has completed testing of the base water supply and zero contaminants were detected.

Effective immediately, the water boil notice has been lifted.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as base personnel worked diligently to ensure that your water is safe for consumption, food preparation, and personal hygiene.

Team Malmstrom,

Good news, our Civil Engineers in conjunction with contractors and the City of Great Falls have been able to make repairs to the water line near 2nd Ave Gate and Matador Manor. They are currently in the process of restoring water to the base.

However, the boil notice remains in effect until Bioenvironmental can test and ensure the water is safe. The tests are being conducted and results will be available in 24 hours. Once the water is safe, we will send out notifications immediately.

Thank you again for your patience as we worked to restore water and if you have any concerns, please utilize your chain of command or contact CE Customer Service at 731-6138.

Team Malmstrom,

There is a significant water main leak at the 2nd Ave Gate and Matador Manor. To complete this repair, the City of Great Falls must shut down the water main to the base. This temporary shutdown will last for about 8 hours. The majority of the base will still have water at a lower pressure, by using the water towers to supply the installation.

With an abundance of caution, we are directing an immediate boil notice for all water that will be consumed, utilized for food preparation or personal hygiene until further notice.

The following buildings will not have water until the repair is complete:
Bldg 3060
Bldg 3059
Bldg 30630
Bldg 3080
Bldg 3081
Off Base Fam Camp
Matador Housing Area

Additionally, the Malmstrom Medical Group clinic will be closed.

We request personnel refrain from non-essential water usage to include housing residents irrigating their lawns.
