Naval Reserve Officers’ Training Corps

Naval Reserve Officers’ Training Corps On behalf of Rear Adm. Matthew Pottenburgh, welcome to the official page for NROTC.

Forging future Navy and Marine Corps officers in the Foundry who strengthen the Fleet and stand ready to fight. The purpose of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps is to educate and train qualified students for service as commissioned officers in the Navy unrestricted line, the Navy Nurse Corps, and the Marine Corps. As the largest single source of Navy and Marine Corps officers, NROTC is par

t of the Foundry that prepares future leaders with the knowledge, discipline, and character to strengthen the Fleet and to fight on behalf of the Nation. Selected applicants are awarded scholarships through a highly competitive national process and receive full tuition, educational fees, books, a stipend, and other benefits at leading colleges and universities. Students make their own arrangements for enrollment and housing and follow the academic course load required for their degree, along with specific professional training requirements. Upon graduation, scholarship students are commissioned as officers in the Navy or Marine Corps, prepared to lead in an increasingly technical and globally connected maritime force.

Midshipmen Candidates will have the opportunity to call Sunday, August 2, between 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM CDT to discuss final logistics and ticket confirmations as we get ready for graduation.

As a reminder:

1. Midshipmen Candidates will each have 15 minutes within the time window to call whoever they like. NSI staff will not regulate who they choose to call.

2. These will be voice calls only—no FaceTime or video calls.

3. If a Midshipman Candidate does not have a cell phone, they may call from a borrowed one. If you have settings on your phone that screen unknown numbers, we recommend disabling them for the two-hour window.

4. If a Midshipman Candidate is unable to call due to an excused reason, they will be able to make calls later in the day.

Help spread the word to other families so no one misses a call!

Midshipmen Candidates from New Student Indoctrination Cycle 3, conducted damage control training at the USS Chief, a land-based training facility aboard U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command.

The USS Chief is designed to simulate real-world shipboard emergency scenarios. Candidates were introduced to the fundamentals of Navy damage control learning how to don firefighting gear, handle emergency equipment, and work as a team to contain and control simulated casualties.

As we celebrate NROTC 100, we honor a century of forging Officers who are resilient in spirit, united in purpose, and ready to lead our battle-ready Sailors and Marines.
