Red Smith School Red Smith is a 4K - 8th grade school located on the eastern shores of the Bay of Green Bay. Red Smith Raptors take PRIDE in who they are!

Red Smith is a 4K through 8th grade school with a growing population of approximately 1000 students. Located on the eastern shores of the Bay of Green Bay, Red Smith is centered in one of the fastest growing communities in the area. The school is named in honor of Pulitzer Prize winning American Sportswriter Walter Wellesley Smith (1905-1982), also known as “Red” Smith, who was born in Green Bay a

nd graduated from East High School, the original home site of the Green Bay Packers. Smith watched the Packers play their first game at City Stadium in 1919. Their continued success inspired him to write about the love of football from a spectator’s viewpoint and later became one of the most widely-read sports columnists. Red Smith Raptors share in the pride that “Red” portrayed throughout his own life. Red Smith School has a strong parent network. Parents are highly active in supporting the school community by volunteering in classrooms, sponsoring both assemblies and family-based activities and attending informational meetings. Red Smith School offers a variety of co-curricular activities (athletics, clubs and intramurals) to enhance students’ academic and social leadership skills. All students are welcome to participate upon meeting age and grade requirements.

When the decision was made to close Wequiock Elementary School the District promised that the program would continue. Now, after school consolidation, the outdoor learning program at Red Smith School is thriving, and serving even more students.

🐐 🐔 📖 There are educational opportunities involving goats, chickens, an outdoor reading trail, and more!

Even after Green Bay’s Wequiock Elementary closed two years ago, one of its most treasured traditions — the outdoor learning program — is alive and growing at Red Smith Elementary.
