We all have been inside for too long. Let's go camping‼️ Brown County 4-H is challenging you to create a cardboard camping experience at your own house. ⛺️ First, what would your yard camping scene look like? Would you tent camp? Brown County 4-H will supply each "camper" with all the necessary materials and virtual instructions to help create their camping scene. Please click on the link below ⬇️ for more information or to register to participate in this unique opportunity for youth of all ages!

📅 Registration is due by June 26th and boxes will be available for distribution starting July 6th.

The UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health are excited to partner with the national All of Us Research Program. All of Us is a health research program funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Our goal is to help researchers better understand why people get sick or stay healthy, positively impacting the quality of healthcare in Wisconsin and beyond.

All of Us is looking for one million people, nationwide, who are 18 years of age and older, to share their health data to build the largest, most diverse, health database of its kind. The mission of the All of Us Research Program is simple: to speed up health research and medical breakthroughs. Researchers will be able to use this data to conduct thousands of studies. This may help them find the match to the right treatment, to the right person, at the right time.

Check Your Free Credit Report Campaign

Each year you can obtain three free credit reports! The information in your credit report affects your life in important ways–your ability to get a loan, how much you pay for credit and insurance, securing a job, renting a house or apartment, and preventing identity theft. It is important to check your report regularly to make sure it is accurate and up-to-date. The credit reporting system is set up so that you are responsible for finding and correcting errors–you must play the role of quality controller for the information in your reports.

Soil testing is available now!

Soil testing is available now!

👀 Looking to get your soil tested!? We can help. Here are quick facts to help you get your soil tested through Extension Brown County.

🌲 Whether you are sampling a lawn or a garden, you will want to take a composite sample. Collect small samples from at least 4-5 locations in the area and combine them into one composite sample.
🌳 All areas should be taken at the same depth. This means 5 to 7 inches for most gardens or lawns.
🌱 Please provide two cups of soil from your composite sample in a clean plastic bag.
🌷 Each general lawn or garden sample is $22. This includes pH, lime requirement, organic matter, available phosphorous (P), and available potassium (K).
🥀 Price can vary if you are looking to add other items to your test or only want one specific nutrient.
🌼 Include the soil sample submission form with your soil:https://www.browncountywi.gov/i/f/files/UW-Extension/Horticulture/Hort%20Soil%20sample%20submission%20form.pdf

After you have your sample ready to be tested, please call our office at 920-391-4610 📞 and set up an appointment. Due to COVID-19, we are not doing any in-person transactions at this time and will have a drop location for you. All samples must be paid in full via credit card or check before we will ship the sample to get tested. You can pay online or over the phone with credit card.

Not sure you need a soil sample? Email us at [email protected] 💻 and talk it over with our Horticulture Department and they can help you determine if a soil sample would be beneficial.

Still have questions? Visit this link or call us! 📞

Packers, Brown County partner for 'Planting for a Purpose Program'

This growing season, the Green Bay Packers and Brown County Community Gardens are partnering for the fourth year on the Planting for a Purpose Program to encourage community members to plant a garden plot and donate fresh produce to local food pantries.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, local food pantries report there is great need for more fresh produce donations to meet clients' needs. By signing up and pledging to donate a portion of their harvest, local gardeners can help ensure all community members have access to fresh fruits and vegetables.

Read the press release and find out how to get involved at the link below. Free seed potatoes and rain gauges are available for participants, while supplies last.
