Summer transportation help needed!

Do you enjoy spending time with kids and want to make a positive impact in their lives? Consider volunteering as a driver to transport kids to and from visits with their parents or other appointments. A typical transport includes picking up a child at daycare or their home and transporting them to our Family Center, located on the west side of Green Bay, for a two hour visit. After the visit, children typically need to be transported home or back to daycare. Transportation schedules can be flexible, though most requests fall between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Drivers are able to take as few or as many transports as they would like. One hour of your time per week can make all of the difference in these families lives.

If you would like to learn more, contact Jamie Chaudoir: (920)448-6271 or [email protected]

Do you enjoy spending time with kids and want to make a positive impact in their lives? Consider getting involved as a Transportation Volunteer and/or a Family Interaction Volunteer for the summer.

Transportation Volunteers drive kids to and from visits with their parents or other appointments. A typical transport includes picking up a child at daycare or their home and transporting them to our Family Center, located on the west side of Green Bay, for a two hour visit. After the visit, children typically need to be transported home or back to daycare. Transportation schedules can be flexible, though most requests fall between the hours of 8:00AM and 6:00PM. Drivers are able to take as few or as many transports as they would like.

Family Interaction Volunteers support children in out-of-home care by supervising the family interaction with their parents. The volunteers help to assure a safe and secure environment both physically and emotionally for the children. Time commitment is flexible and based on the availability of the volunteer. However, visits typically occur between the hours of 8:00AM and 6:00PM.
Orientation and training are provided for both roles. Mileage reimbursement is offered to all volunteers.

Volunteer Guardians Needed!

A legal guardian is an advocate and decision maker for those who are deemed incompetent due to aging, a developmental disability, a chronic mental illness or alcohol and drug abuse. Guardians ensure that the individual’s rights to proper housing, nutrition, and medical care are met. A guardian is expected to visit their ward at least once a month and complete an annual report. A legal guardian does not financially support the ward, take care of the ward on a day to day basis, nor personally provide a place for the ward to live. Time commitment is based on the needs of the ward.

Interested in applying? Contact Jenna Durkee: [email protected]

Not ready to make the commitment to mentor a youth but interested in helping? Here are some other options:

-Get involved with Friends of Pals, Youth & Families!
Visit their website here: https://www.friendsofpyf.org/needs/

-Volunteer with us on a short-term basis. Once we resume in-person activities with the Pals Program, we will find ourselves in need of chaperones for children on the waitlist 😃

Brown County Volunteer Programs:

Pals Program: Volunteer mentors spend time (2-3 times per month) in a recreational or learning activity with a child, age 3 or older, that has been referred by Brown County Child Protective Services. Volunteer mentors help the child adjust to the separation or loss of a parent, enhance self-esteem and confidence, and learn new skills. Matches are invited to attend a fun activity each month that is free of charge. Matches are based on compatibility and can continue for as long as both parties are interested, though the hope would be to have volunteers engaged with their Pal for a minimum of 1 year.

Family Interaction Program: Volunteers support children in out-of-home care by supervising the family interaction with their parents. The volunteers help to assure a safe and secure environment both physically and emotionally for the children. You have the ability to decide how often you would like to volunteer and can choose to accept or decline supervision requests.

Volunteer Drivers: Assist with transporting children and families safely to and from authorized visits and appointments. Drivers are reimbursed for their mileage. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
