Everyday Hero: Looking for Pals in Brown County

Did you know that the Pals Program welcomes entire families to get involved with a youth in our program? It can be effortless to include another child in the activities you are already doing with your family but it could mean the world to a child in need. Hear from one of our current family matches and Friends of Pals, Youth & Families Vice President, Dana Kressig in the interview below.

Thank you Spectrum News 1 Wisconsin for capturing the impact of mentoring!

Every bit helps! There are so many wonderful organizations taking part in this event, including Friends of Pals, Youth & Families!

Is a $10 donation “too small” to make a difference?

Ten dollars can teach a child a new sport, support a person’s recovery journey, support our environment, or give a child a safe place to go after school.

Small gestures make a BIG impact.

Visit www.giveBIGgreenbay.org to see how your donation can make a difference.

Last week, we received the news that a former Pals volunteer had passed. We were fortunate to see Eric one last time just a week prior as he spoke at an event about his relationship with his mentee. The last week has shown us that Eric’s impact reached far beyond the Pals Program, he was truly loved by this entire community. We were lucky to have crossed paths with him and be a part of his story.

We were honored to have a former Pals mentor speak at our Proclamation Ceremony last week. Even though his mentee is now a college student, the two of them are still connected through friendship.

Simply being present in a youth's life can make a tremendous impact. #BeTheInspiration

"We think about #highschool graduation rates, #homelessness, connections to the criminal and juvenile justice systems. Even with those hurdles and obstacles that seems to be somewhat inevitable for somebody who experienced what he (the child) experienced, we started to see that he was going to #graduate, stay out of trouble, and never be in a position where he worried about where he was going to sleep. We would walk through those #issues and knew that if we just stumble through this #together, we'd figure it out." - Eric Blumreich, Volunteer Adult Mentor.

Brown County's Pals Program needs adult and family #volunteers who will help make a difference in the life of at-risk #youth in our #community. Be the Inspiration - Learn more at: www.PalsProgramofBrownCounty.org

Watch: Year of Pals Mentorship Announced

Today was the Day! 2022 has been proclaimed "The Year of Pals"! We are looking forward to working with various partners this year to bring awareness to the Pals Program including Green Bay Packers, Brown County Sheriff's Office and Oneida Nation! None of this would be possible without the leadership of Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach. We are thankful for your support.

Our ultimate goal is to establish a waitlist of mentors as opposed to a waitlist of children. We currently have 50+ children in need of a mentor. Do you want to help us work towards our goal? Contact: Jenna Durkee to get involved- [email protected]

Seeking Family Interaction Volunteers (Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays)!

Shifts: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 4:30-6:30 pm; Thursdays, 4:00-6:00 pm (volunteers ideally would take one two-hour shift on the same day each week).

If you are interested in applying, please contact: Jamie Chaudoir

Did you know that 77% of #youth who have been matched with a #mentor, currently over age 18, have not had any serious run-ins with law enforcement? Weston Foods has graciously provided us an opportunity to match dollar-for-dollar donations to @Friends of Pals, Youth & Families for the month of October. We have 10 days left! Please help us reach 100 people in that time. Any amount is a great amount! https://bit.ly/3uKZpGm

HUGE thank you to Bank of Luxemburg for raising the funds to purchase gifts for the teenagers working with our Department! This population is often forgot about when donations come through- we were incredibly happy to be able to provide some gifts to the older youth that we serve this season!
We would like to thank all of the sponsors that made our annual Pals Christmas Party possible this year! We would not have been able to host this event at the Botanical Gardens without the help of Cellcom, Kiwanis Club of De Pere, WI, Kiwanis Club of Allouez-Greater Green Bay and Nicolet National Bank! We would also like to thank the children who made Christmas cards for nursing home residents while they were at the party. You brought cheer to residents at Care for All Ages Assisted Living Facility!
Check out the story!
We cannot thank Contract Transport Services enough for continuing to donate bikes to the Pals Program! In addition to receiving 20 brand new bikes for children, we also received helmets to help keep the children safe thanks to BayCare Clinic, LLP! Christmas will be really special for a few wonderful children in our community!
