“Just wanted to reach out and let you know a NAR CAT saved my life on Saturday. Made a super dumb mistake while racking a 43x and shot a round straight into my femoral artery and out the back of my leg. Would’ve bled out if I didn’t have a TQ in my car. Not sure where that TQ went at the hospital, but it saved me! Just wanted to let you guys know that the stuff you are making is doing the job day in and day out.”

One distracted moment is all it takes. Any tool can cause injury — fi****ms just raise the stakes.

We’re grateful our new friend had a tourniquet within reach and the mindset to use it quickly. That preparation made a difference, and we’re thankful they’re on the road to recovery ❤️‍🩹

If you choose to carry a firearm as part of your EDC — or simply keep fi****ms in your home — then carrying the skills, training, and equipment to treat a GSW should be part of that responsibility too.

A tourniquet in the kit means nothing if you don’t know how to use it when seconds count. Be prepared. Save a life!

What are the current transfusion triggers for statewide EMS agencies? These authors looked at 31 states + DC (Publicly available). Here is what they found:
-42% allowed for field-initiated blood transfusions, but only 69% of these allowed for transfusion in medical emergencies (GI bleeds, OB, etc..).
-All states that allowed blood also included TXA
-69% of these allowed for pediatric blood transfusion (so…. What’s up with the 31% that don’t allow it? Apparently bleeding kids don’t need blood???). Generally, dose is 10ml/kg.
-Of the states that allow pediatric blood transfusion, 1/3 limited to age 3-5 and over.
-3 states restricted females of childbearing age to Rh NEG only. ** This is unfortunate as there is great evidence to support universal Low Titer O POS for all.
-One state required crystalloid resuscitation first (which counters current thinking in blood resuscitation).
** While it is encouraging that more states are bringing on prehospital blood resuscitation for trauma, we do need to push to make sure there is equal access for children, females of childbearing age and medical patients.

Today, we pause to remember lives taken far too soon — men and women who lived with purpose, courage, and conviction. Though a life may be fleeting, the impact of a life well lived echoes far beyond our years.

We are far more fragile than we like to believe. Life can change in an instant, and mortality is a battle none of us escape.

So live boldly. Love deeply. Serve honorably. Stand for something greater than yourself.

They did. And now we are honor-bound to carry their legacy forward — not only in remembrance, but in how we choose to live each day. 🇺🇸

Incredible work by all involved in this rescue! 🫡🇺🇸👣

Yesterday the 920th Rescue Wing rescued 11 survivors approximately 60 miles off the Florida coast after responding to a distress call. An HC-130J Combat King II located the survivors and deployed MA-1 survival kits including rafts. An HH-60W Jolly Green II aircrew alongside pararescuemen assisted in recovering the survivors, who were later transported for further medical care.

New CPGs just dropped for danger noodles and nope ropes 🐍☠️

Huge congratulations to Joint Trauma System on the release of the updated Snakebite Envenomation CPGs.

Reading the guidelines is one thing.
Actually discussing real-world application with the authors, working through scenarios, and training hands-on is another level entirely.

At SOMA, attendees got direct access to key contributors during a live Q&A and scenario-based lab focused on snakebite management in operational environments.
