Forty one years ago today, the USS NEVADA (SSBN-733), the nation's 8th ballistic-missile Trident submarine, launched at the Electric Boat Co.'s graving dock. The ceremony was attended by roughly 4,000 shipyard workers, local community leaders and dignitaries, as well as hundreds of protestors who gathered to demonstrate against nuclear arms.

The Groton Public Library is collecting diapers in coordination with National Diaper Need Awareness Week (SEPT. 14-20). Drop off donations of any size diapers; new and opened packages welcome. Your contribution will provide local babies with a basic necessity.
