The reception to celebrate that the library won the National Medal is happening right now until 3 P.M. so come by the library if you would like to enjoy refreshments! Also, the Friends of the Library will not be able to do the hot dog fundraiser at the Fourth of July this year, so please let Amanda Brandon know if you have ideas about a non-profit or for-profit that would like to do food at Tlingit Park on July 4.

Tree is up! Many thanks to Chris Downer and Jenn Walsh for donating the tree from their property! Also a huge thanks to Brad, Dave, Larry, Linda, Judy, Aly, Matt, Rebecca, Lisa, Kay, and the three Mormon missionaries who helped make sure the whole process was safe and successful today!! There was a moment when the tree looked pretty diagonal, and it was really great to have the extra strength of the volunteers right there. The decorating has officially begun. More help will be needed, especially on Black Friday from 9-5 P.M. when many hands will make light work. It will be an intense day of library beautification for the Lighting of the Library. Thanks, Friends of the Haines Borough Public Library for making this event happen for our community!

This Wednesday, November 19 from 9 A.M. to noon the library needs help getting the tree up and decorated, as well as garland strung and lights in place. It is the beginning of the new season!

August Snack Attack is back! Kids made Amazing Thai Peanut Sauce which they loved with carrots (local ones from Four Winds!), celery, broccoli, and red onion slices! The whole platter of veggies disappeared along with every bit of the sauce, so I think they enjoyed it! Seventeen kids and four parents sampled the food. The last Snack Attack for the season will be this Friday after school when we walk to the museum’s 100-year old apple tree.
