In May, we recognize National Electrical Safety Month to raise awareness about reducing electrically related fires, injuries and fatalities. Here are a few important safety tips to keep in mind:
• Never use electrical equipment near water.
• Check all light bulbs to ensure the wattage is safe and suitable for the fixture.
• Extension cords are for temporary use only; never run them under rugs, through walls or across doorways.
• Do not plug too many devices into a single outlet or power strip.

♻️ Seal Leaks: Weatherproof doors and windows to keep the heat or cool air in.
♻️ Ditch Disposable: Swap your disposable water bottle for a reusable one to save energy and reduce waste

Landscaping with purpose can help lower your energy use. Planting trees or tall shrubs on the west and south sides of your home provides natural shade during hot summer months, helping keep your house cooler and reducing the need for air conditioning. Smart planting today can mean real energy savings tomorrow.

💡Nebraska's energy costs remain low.

On average, Nebraska has the 3rd lowest residential electric rates AND 3rd lowest overall electric rates in the U.S.! Our bills stay low because utilities are not-for-profit and charge only cost-of-service rates.
