🔒 Always lock your vehicle doors

💡 Park in well-lit areas whenever possible

The Hewitt Police Department is aware of fraudulent text messages claiming to be from a “Texas District Court” regarding overdue traffic tickets and court summons.

⚠️ These messages are scams.
They often:
• Threaten arrest warrants or license suspension
• Demand immediate action or payment
• Include suspicious links
• Ask you to reply to the message

Please remember:
✅ Legitimate courts and law enforcement agencies do NOT send threatening text messages demanding payment or personal information.
✅ Do NOT click any links or provide personal/financial information.
✅ Do NOT reply to the message.
✅ Delete the message and report it as spam.

If you are unsure whether you have a legitimate citation or warrant, contact the court directly using official phone numbers or websites - never the information provided in the text message.

🚓 Vehicle Crime Prevention Tips 🚓
The Hewitt Police Department would like to remind everyone to take a few simple steps to help prevent Burglary of Motor Vehicles (BMV) and catalytic converter thefts.
🔒 Lock your doors – Even when parked at home.
🎒 Remove valuables – Don’t leave purses, bags, electronics, or fi****ms in your vehicle.
💡 Park in well-lit areas – Lighting and visibility can deter criminals.
🏠 Use cameras or motion lights when parking in your driveway or on the street.
🚗 Protect your catalytic converter – If possible, park in a garage or close to your home, and consider installing a catalytic converter anti-theft device.
Most vehicle burglaries happen because vehicles are left unlocked or valuables are left inside. A few quick steps can make a big difference!
If you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood, please report it to the police.
