Fireweed Academy For friends, family, and alumni of Fireweed Academy - a K-6 free public charter school in Homer, AK

Fireweed Academy is a FREE public school within the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, where students learn to view themselves as readers, writers, and problem solvers. Fireweed Academy has two campuses- Little Fireweed for K-2; and Big Fireweed for 3-6 grade.

What an incredible core memory for these 6th graders who are launching into middle school! This 3 day camping trip in tents at the head of Tutka was just a perfect trip with fishing, SUPing, tidepooling, campfire songs (my favorite was Bugs), and more s'mores than I can count. Kind hearts, curious minds, and kids getting to experience the beauty in this place that we call home(r). Love this tradition! It was made possible in a huge way through a grant awarded by the Prince William Sound Regional Citizens' Advisory Council - thank you for supporting our students!
