H-GAC's outreach coordinator, Sara Hart, attended the International Association of Public Participation's (IAP2) North America Conference last week in Seattle.

IAP2 is all about community engagement and different methods organizations can use to build trust and advance equity in their communities.

The photo here shows a plΓ‘tica exercise, where hopes and fears are laid out together after small group discussion.

Many times folks find that although their fears are different, their hopes are the same. Finding that common ground can be the first step towards building a better future together.

Raborn said the bill’s broad scope will increase funding to programs, such as the Surface Transportation Block Grant, which is seeing a 24% increase in funding.

β€œIt’s a big bill; there’s a lot in it,” Raborn said. β€œAnd so it’s going to take a lot of time for agencies like ours to find and match the pieces to the needs they have.”
