League of Women Voters of Houston

League of Women Voters of Houston We are a nonpartisan political organization serving Harris County by encouraging everyone to participate in the civic life of our community.

Our trusted, non-partisan outreach works to encourage active and informed participation in government and to increase understanding of major public policy issues. We sponsor candidate debates and forums, town-hall style seminars on important public issues, voter registration drives, election information outreach, and of course our fabeled Voters Guide to the Election and the Candidates. We never endorse or oppose any candidate or political party. And we've been at it since 1920!

The questions are out. 🗳️

Candidates on the November 3 ballot have received their 2026 Houston Voters Guide questionnaires, and the submission deadline is Monday, August 10.

The questions come from a nonpartisan committee process. Answers are published word for word, exactly as candidates write them. We don’t edit them.

Their words. Your decision.

Candidates: check your inbox for your Vote411 link. No link? 📧 [email protected]

Everyone else: 🔁 Share this. If you know someone on the ballot, a neighbor running, a friend’s campaign, send them this post. One share can fill a blank space in the guide.

We’re hiring! LWV Houston is looking for a Digital Marketing & Design Consultant (part-time)

Do you know your way around a content calendar, a Mailchimp template, and a Meta Ads dashboard? Can you take a campaign from concept to completion without waiting for direction?

For over a century, the League of Women Voters of Houston has empowered voters with trusted, nonpartisan election information, and how we show up online is central to that mission, especially heading into the 2026 midterms.

We’re looking for an experienced, self-directed marketing pro to lead:
✅ Social media strategy + platform-native content (Instagram, Facebook & LinkedIn focus)
✅ Graphic design + brand communications for social & email
✅ End-to-end email marketing, including our newsletter development
✅ Paid social campaigns during election season — a top priority for this role

This is not an entry-level position. We need someone with 3+ years of hands-on digital marketing experience and a portfolio to show for it.

If mission-driven work energizes you and you want your creative skills to strengthen democracy in Houston, we want to hear from you.

📩 Send your resume, cover letter, and portfolio to [email protected] with the subject line: Digital Marketing & Design Consultant

In 1965, John Lewis crossed a bridge in Selma knowing what waited on the other side. He gave his blood so every American could cast a ballot.

Six years after his passing, John Lewis’s warning is not history, it’s headline news. This week, as false claims about election security once again threaten public trust in our democracy, we stand in defending the freedom to vote.

In 2026, the attacks on that right look different, but the answer is the same one Lewis gave us: keep marching, keep organizing, keep voting.

Good trouble lives on here in Houston! Join us TODAY at 3 PM for a free screening of “John Lewis: Good Trouble” + panel discussion at Regal Edwards Greenway.

Our community deserves answers.

On July 7, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, husband, father, and longtime East End neighbor, was killed by a federal immigration agent on his way to work. When someone is killed by a government agent, the public deserves a prompt, independent, and transparent investigation.

Houstonians are speaking up. Our officials need to know Houston expects transparency, all the way to the end.

We’ve prepared ready-to-personalize letters to the Mayor, your Council Member, and the District Attorney, each takes about 5 minutes, in English y Español.

Nuestra comunidad merece respuestas.
