A new elementary school is coming to the heart of Fifth Ward 💙

Located at 275 Japhet St., Houston, TX 77020, YES Prep Fifth Ward Elementary is being built to serve the students and families of the Fifth Ward community, creating new opportunities for young learners close to home.

Opening for the 2027–28 school year, the campus will welcome students in pre-K through 2nd grade before expanding one grade each year until it serves students through 5th grade.

As part of a complete pre-K through 12th pathway alongside YES Prep Fifth Ward Secondary, families will have access to a tuition-free public education designed to help students thrive from their earliest years through graduation.

The power of YES continues to grow!

We are proud to announce that YES Prep is opening a brand-new elementary school in Fifth Ward!

Opening for the 2027–28 school year, YES Prep Fifth Ward Elementary will welcome pre-K through 2nd grade students in its first year and will continue growing each year until it serves students through 5th grade.

This new school is a reflection of our commitment to investing in the incredible Fifth Ward community, honoring its rich history and providing the Education We Deserve for the next generation of students and families.

We're excited to share more about what's ahead and introduce you to the people, programs, and possibilities that will make YES Prep Fifth Ward Elementary a special place to learn and grow.

You can get everything you need to start the school year strong, TOMORROW, at the YES Prep Cares Back-to-School Health Fair.

The first 400 students will receive a free backpack filled with school supplies. Free immunizations and free or low-cost haircuts will also be available. Children must be present to receive a backpack.

The first day of school is almost here, and we need your student's updated information before classes begin.

Annual Student Enrollment Forms are required for all new and returning YES Prep students and are available in English and Spanish through Skyward Family Access.

Please take a few minutes to complete your forms today so your student is ready for a smooth start to the school year.

Log in to Skyward Family Access, select the Annual Student Enrollment Forms tile, and submit your forms today.
