MORE ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Apriel Powell Martin is a licensed attorney in Texas. Upon graduating from Langston University, she worked in physician contracting at the largest hospital system in Houston for several years before deciding to pursue a law degree at Thurgood Marshall School of Law. After graduating law school and passing the bar the same year, she began practicing as an Assistant District Attorney at the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office for about four years before transitioning to work exclusively as a health law attorney.
In her practice, she has represented hospital systems, academic medical centers, physicians, and clinicians of every specialty. Her areas of expertise include insurance, HIPAA, physician clinic and hospital operations, risk management, and patient grievances. Prior to her current position, she was employed at the largest health insurance company in the country. She has also served as an Adjunct Health Law Professor at Thurgood Marshall School of Law (TMSL) and in January of 2026, was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
