As of Wednesday evening, 26.39% of ballots in the 5th Legislative District have been returned, according to King County Elections. That’s a bit ahead of the countywide turnout of 24.47%, where about 355,000 of 1.45 million active registered voters have already voted.
Here’s the other way to look at that number: nearly three out of four voters in our district still haven’t turned in a ballot. Those votes will decide who represents us, and right now they’re sitting on kitchen counters and in junk-mail piles.
What you can do this week:
1. Vote today. Don’t wait until Tuesday. Fill it out, sign the envelope, and drop it off.
2. Use a drop box. Most King County voters already do. Drop boxes are open until 8pm on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3. Click here to find one near you.
3. Text three people. A quick text to a spouse, a neighbor, a friend (“Did you turn in your ballot yet?”) works.
4. Join a Get Out the Vote event. Email [email protected] to RSVP for location details.
