MSFIRE was proud to join the Mississippi Fire Fighters Association (MFFA) Northeast Vice President, Okolona Fire Department, and Mississippi Burn Camp for Frankie’s Fall, Fun and Games Day in Houston, Mississippi!

This wonderful event, organized through a collaboration involving the Chickasaw County 4-H program, brings together local volunteers, businesses, churches, and community partners to create a fun, welcoming, and inclusive experience for children with special needs.

From firefighter helmets to big smiles, it was a great opportunity to connect with some amazing kids and share a little fire service fun!

The Fire Services Division joined the fun at Mississippi Day 2026 at Leakesville Elementary School, bringing a fire safety presence to a celebration of our state and its communities.

With bright red firefighter hats, big smiles and opportunities to connect with students, the event offered a welcoming setting to build awareness of fire safety and the people who help protect Mississippi families.

Community events like Mississippi Day help strengthen the connection between schools, families and public servants. They also provide an opportunity to introduce safety messages that children can carry home and share.

Thank you to Leakesville Elementary School, its teachers, staff, volunteers and participating community organizations for making this celebration possible—and for welcoming the Fire Services Division!

Local fire departments continue coming together to recognize September 11 and honor the lives lost 25 years ago.

From ceremonies and flags to moments of silence and gatherings at fire stations, these acts of remembrance remind us that we will never forget.

09/11/2026

Twenty-five years ago, firefighters across the country answered a call unlike any they had ever faced.

Today, firefighters across Mississippi are gathering to honor the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

No matter where you were 25 years ago… this is where we are today. From Columbus to Hattiesburg to Monticello, fire departments pause to remember.

Still serving. Still protecting. Still answering the call.
