Yesterday, members from both stations were dispatched to assist an injured hiker on a local trail. Members responded with both UTVs and our rescue, making their way up the trail to locate the patient. Once located, members worked together to safely extricate the patient down the trail and transfer her to awaiting EMS personnel.

As we enjoy the beautiful trails that Jim Thorpe and the surrounding area have to offer, we want to remind everyone to always be prepared when heading out for a hike. Know your route, be aware of your surroundings, bring adequate water and supplies, and make sure you have a way to contact emergency services if needed. Accidents can happen at any time, and being prepared can make a significant difference when an emergency occurs.

A REMINDER FOR DRIVERS IN JIM THORPE

Whether you live in Jim Thorpe or are visiting our beautiful town, please remember that our firefighters are volunteers who leave their homes, families, and jobs to respond when someone needs help.

When you see emergency apparatus responding with lights and sirens, please remain alert and do your best to safely pull over to the side of the road to allow them to pass. Every second matters during an emergency, and your cooperation helps our members reach those in need without unnecessary delays.

We appreciate the continued support of our community and visitors. Together, we can help keep our trails, roads, and community safe!

With fire prevention week being here we want to put out an alert about checking your smoke detectors! If you are in need of new smoke detectors please reach out to us. Our volunteers will come and install brand new ones completely for free! Please reach out to us on Facebook with any questions!!

Members from both stations spent the weekend starting our fall foliage staffing downtown. Members will be downtown every Saturday and Sunday ensuring that downtown is adequately prepared for any emergency this fall foliage. Members will also be selling our new shirts that are themed for fall foliage. If you wanna get one make sure to stop by our tent and grab one!!

As we approach another beautiful fall foliage season here in Jim Thorpe, we want to take a moment to welcome everyone who will be visiting our beautiful town! We’re excited to have you here and hope you enjoy everything Jim Thorpe has to offer.

With the large number of visitors expected, we ask everyone to please keep a few things in mind:

Please park only in designated parking areas.
Do not block intersections, driveways, fire hydrants, or yellow zones.
Please remember that people live here too. Be respectful of our residents, their homes, and their property.
Help us keep Jim Thorpe beautiful by placing trash in designated trash receptacles.

These simple reminders help keep traffic moving, allow emergency services to respond when needed, and make the experience better for both visitors and the people who call Jim Thorpe home.

Most importantly, enjoy your visit! Take in the scenery, explore our downtown, support our local businesses, and make some great memories.

You’ll also see members of the Jim Thorpe Fire Department downtown on weekends selling apparel and other gear. Stop by, say hello, and support your local volunteer firefighters!

On behalf of the members we would like to thank Taylor, Amanda and Dan in addition to everyone at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Carbon for their donation of the KimTek MedLite transport skid for our UTV! We depend on generous donations from our local organizations to assist in buying equipment we need to serve our communities. Once again a big thank you!!

Support Our Local Fire Companies — September 11th

On September 11th from 5:00 PM–8:00 PM, the Jim Thorpe Tourism Agency will be hosting a special community event in support of our local volunteer fire companies.

During the event, a portion of the proceeds from participating shops on Broadway will be donated to surrounding fire departments. This is a great opportunity to enjoy an evening downtown while giving back to the men and women who volunteer their time to protect our communities.

Members of our local fire companies will also have a table set up downtown selling department T-shirts, with proceeds going toward supporting our departments and their continued operations.

Throughout the evening, fire apparatus and members will be downtown so the community can see firsthand the equipment your donations help us maintain and operate. We want everyone to have the opportunity to meet the volunteers, check out the apparatus, and see where your support goes.

As we gather on September 11th, we also remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, and countless others who answered the call that day.

We hope to see you downtown from 5–8 PM! Come out, support local businesses, meet your local firefighters, and help us continue to serve and protect our community.

This past weekend, members from both stations participated in a Pennsylvania State Pumps 1 course hosted by Carbon County EMA.

We are proud to announce that 8 of our members successfully completed the course and became state-certified pump operators!

Our members are committed to continually improving their skills and expanding their knowledge so that when the tones drop, we are prepared to handle any call that comes our way.

A huge thank you to Carbon County EMA and the instructors for providing our members with this valuable training opportunity.
