We would like to thank the American Red Cross for donating these detectors. We always appreciate the support they give to their local fire companies.

Tonight, members from both the Onoko and Diligent station came together to attend a CPR, AED, and First Aid class hosted by Lehighton Ambulance.

We’d like to thank Lehighton Ambulance Association for taking the time to provide this training to our department. Opportunities like this are a testament to our commitment to continually improving our skills and ensuring we’re always prepared to handle any emergency.

Tonight, members from both Onoko and the Diligent station participated in a rural water movement drill hosted by the Lehighton Fire Department.

Units 1125 and 1134 worked alongside surrounding departments focusing on tanker operations, ladder pipe operations, and porta-pond setups.

Overall, it was a great drill and another step toward building strong, cohesive relationships with our neighboring departments—ensuring we’re always ready for any call that comes our way.

We would like to thank Lehighton Fire Department for the invite and Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Co. Mahoning Valley Fire Company No.1 Parryville Volunteer Fire Co #2 East Penn Fire Company for participating with us!

SPECIAL EVENT!

The June 2026 Community Watch Meeting will be held in the parking lot of Memorial Park. The meeting will take place on Tuesday June 23, 2026 at 6:30pm. The theme for the meeting is "What Jim Thorpe Emergency Services look Like". This meeting will feature Jim Thorpe Police Vehicles, Jim Thorpe Fire Apparatus and Lehighton Ambulance Vehicles. All including children are invited to this event. Come support you local Emergency Services!

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our own, Vince Yaich Sr.

Vince gave 52 years of his life as a volunteer firefighter, always stepping up to serve the community. His commitment extended far beyond our local area, as he also answered the call to assist fellow firefighters on numerous western fire details.

A lifetime member of Diligent Fire Company #3, Vince was a familiar face around the station and someone everyone knew they could count on. His knowledge, experience, and steady presence helped shape generations of firefighters within our department.

Being a volunteer firefighter means missing holidays, family time, and important moments, all to make sure others are safe. Vince lived that life every call.

He also spent 35 years as a DCNR Forest Fire Warden with the Weiser Forest District Warden’s Association, continuing his service protecting both the community and the forests.

Vince wasn’t just a firefighter — he was one of us. He’ll be missed around the station and in the fire service as a whole.

Any departments bringing apparatus to the services are asked to limit it to one apparatus per department and to stage on 5th Street next to Jim and Vickie’s Laundromat.

Rest easy, Vince. We’ll take it from here.

The members of the Department want to extend a big thank you to Craig Walters and Angela Nardini for helping us out and getting the AJ Baddick memorial stone re painted. We will always keep all of those we have lost in our thoughts and minds and will never forget the sacrifices they made for our country.
