As we continue celebrating #𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DOLWD) recognizes the incredible spouses who support our service members with resilience, strength and dedication.
Alaska Job Center Network staff are available to support those military spouses by connecting them to meaningful career pathways and skill‑building opportunities. Military spouses who are displaced due to a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move are considered dislocated workers under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and may qualify for training assistance for a new career.

Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the service members who gave their lives in defense of our nation. In observance of the holiday, all Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026. All DOLWD offices will reopen on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

The Hilton Honors Military Program supports Veterans, transitioning service members, Guard/Reservists, and military spouses with up to 100,000 Hilton points to stay at Hilton brand hotels for the following employment-related needs:
• Travel for verifiable job interviews
• Training needed to get or keep a job or leading to a certification
• Pre-employment testing such as physicals, drug testing, and aptitude/agility tests for job‑related travel, training, and required testing.

𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 #𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, and the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DOLWD) is proud to support the U.S. Department of War SkillBridge program! Since December 2023, DOLWD has served as an approved SkillBridge industry partner and has assisted Alaska employers in joining the program.
SkillBridge gives service members up to 180 days of civilian work experience and training while they finish their military service — at no cost to employers. It's a powerful way to support a smooth transition into meaningful careers and connect employers with highly skilled, motivated talent.

The Alaska Occupational Safety and Health (AKOSH) team continues its community-focused Outreach Initiative with an announcement of an upcoming OSHA 10-Hour General Industry course. This course is designed to provide practical, workplace hazard awareness training for Alaska’s workforce.

June 25, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
OSHA 10-Hour courses are a great foundation for safety and health training that is relevant for all industries in Alaska.
AKOSH remains committed to supporting safe workplaces across Alaska through education, outreach, and engagement.

𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 #𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, a time to recognize service members, veterans, and military spouses. To those who serve, and to the families who serve alongside them, thank you for your strength, commitment, and sacrifice.
𝗔𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗮 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 staff are trained and dedicated to assisting our military service members, veterans and their spouses. In addition, there are Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists located at Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Matanuska-Susitna job centers that provide individualized career services through case management to eligible veterans, transitioning service members, and other eligible individuals.
