Juneau, Back Loop Bridge is now OPEN as of 6:50 PM, August 13.

Crews completed inspection of the bridge and confirmed it safe to reopen. Thank you for your patience!

JUNEAU TRAFFIC ALERT: Back Loop Bridge is CLOSED as of 8:30 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, August 12.

Due to flooding on the Mendenhall River, Back Loop Bridge is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Mendenhall Loop Road is closed to through traffic between Montana Creek Road and Mint Way. Access remains open to River Road and View Drive for local traffic.

We are monitoring with Unified Command and will post updates as we get them. For everyone's safety, please respect the closure. Do not drive around barricades, and never drive or walk through flood water.

Road condition updates will be posted on 511.Alaska.Gov and our page.

Updated at 11:15 a.m: On July 9, 2026 at approximately 8 a.m., APD responded to an injury collision on the Glenn Highway on the S Curves, which are located near the Anchorage Weigh Station. Upon arrival, responding officers saw a collision involving multiple vehicles resulting in at least one fatali

🚧 Road Closure Alert – Cummings Road 🚧

Cummings Road is currently closed due to a washout.

Maintenance & Operations (M&O) crews are on their way to the site and are expected to begin repair work early this afternoon. Crews will be working as quickly as possible to restore the roadway and reopen access as soon as conditions allow.

Crews remain in the area continuing cleanup operations following the landslide. Please use caution when traveling through the area, slow down, and be mindful of workers on the roadway.
