Jupiter Fire Rescue Department

Jupiter Fire Rescue Department Official page for Town of Jupiter Fire Rescue Department, committed to serving its residents. For emergencies, call 911.

At its meeting on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, the Jupiter Town Council directed Town staff to create the Jupiter Fire Rescue Department (JFRD) to deliver excellent levels of fire and rescue service at a lower, more sustainable cost to residents and businesses. This direction came after 18 months of negotiations with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and an exhaustive feasibility study by the Center for

Public Safety Management (CPSM). Read the full study here, and view a summary presentation here. JFRD WILL PROVIDE LOCAL CONTROL:
Creating the new JFRD will allow the Jupiter Town Council to have local control over costs, operations, and levels of service. It will also allow the Council to make fiscally-responsible decisions on behalf of Jupiter’s residents and businesses, and will significantly decrease the cost of fire rescue and emergency services compared to what is charged by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR), currently and into the future. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Over the 10-year timeframe of the current interlocal agreement, Jupiter taxpayers will save $50-70 million by establishing the JFRD. In Fiscal Year 2027, the first year in which JFRD will provide provide service, the average homesteaded single-family home in Jupiter ($443,833 of taxable value) will save at a minimum of $173 and up to $930 in property taxes as compared to what is charged by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. Over the first five years of the JFRD, the savings will be a minimum of $883 and as much as $4,593. The Town of Jupiter has always done an exceptional job at managing its financial position, which will allow the Town to start the JFRD through a combination of cash, financial debt, and ad valorem taxes. Even when start-up costs and financing costs are incorporated, Jupiter residents and businesses will pay far less in taxes once the JFRD is operational than they currently pay to PBCFR for the same service. CULTURE OF EXCELLENCE:
The Town of Jupiter has established a culture of excellence in regards to public safety. The Jupiter Police Department sets this benchmark every day, and JFRD will start its service from a position of excellence on day one. MOVING FORWARD:
The Town is in the implementation phase of the JFRD, which will begin service on October 1, 2026. The Town will receive fire rescue and EMS services from PBCFR until that time under the current interlocal agreement.

Today, we pause to honor those who gave everything in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it is a day of remembrance for the men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could live, serve, and protect.

To all the Gold Star families in our community: we see you, we honor you, and we are grateful for your family's service.

From all of us at Jupiter Fire Rescue — thank you to those who came before us and laid down their lives in defense of freedom.

This morning started with more than just a ride to school — it started with a memory. ❤️🚒

One student from Jerry Thomas Elementary had the opportunity to arrive in style with Jupiter Fire Rescue, turning an ordinary school morning into a moment they’ll likely never forget. We hope it made for a pretty exciting start to the school day. 🔥

Today marked a major milestone for Jupiter Fire Rescue as 36 new firefighters officially began their first day with the Town of Jupiter. The group includes 12 Captains, 12 Lieutenants and 12 Driver Engineers, bringing with them more than 600 years of combined fire service experience. 🔥🚒

Their leadership, knowledge and dedication will help shape the future of Jupiter Fire Rescue as the department prepares to begin service on October 1.

We are proud to welcome these individuals to the team and look forward to continuing to build a department rooted in excellence, professionalism and service to the Jupiter community.

Before you hit the water — read this. 🌊

Beach season is here, and we want everyone to make it home safe. One of the biggest dangers at our beaches? Rip currents.

Rip currents can form quickly and pull even strong swimmers away from shore. If you’re caught in one:
➡️ Stay calm
➡️ Don’t fight the current
➡️ Swim parallel to shore until you’re out of it
➡️ Signal for help if needed

Before getting in the water:
🚩 Always check the beach flags
🛟 Swim near a lifeguard whenever possible
🌊 Know your limits — ocean conditions can change fast
👀 Keep a close eye on children at all times
🚫 Never swim alone

And remember — no flags or lifeguards does not always mean safe water.

Stay alert, stay aware, and stay safe, Jupiter. 💙

Save this and share it with someone heading to the beach this weekend.

Tonight, the Town Council passed on first reading an ordinance that established the framework by which the Town would establish a non-ad valorem assessment to fund fire services and related capital needs.

This ordinance does not impose a non-ad valorem assessment or set any rate, but only establishes how the Town would implement the assessment should the Town Council choose to implement one.

A second reading of the ordinance will occur at the April 21 Town Council meeting. Should Town Council choose to proceed with the non-ad valorem assessment, a resolution would be considered on first reading at the May 5 Town Council meeting.

Town Council would make its final decision on using the non-ad valorem assessment, and establish the rates charged through it, at its June 16 meeting.
