Today we celebrate School Bus Driver Appreciation Day.
We are grateful for the safe rides, kindness, and patience that school bus drivers bring to their work every day. They play an important role in keeping children safe and supported on their way to and from school. Their impact goes beyond transportation. They help create a sense of consistency and care for students across our communities.

Thank you to all school bus drivers for the difference you make each day.

Mornings are busy. Afternoons are busy. We get it.

But when a school bus stops and that red sign comes out, everything else stops too.

It only takes a few seconds — and it helps make sure every kid gets home safely.

Thanks for inviting us and looking forward to collaborating more in the future!

Our Maternity Care Center team was proud to host a statewide Car Seat Technician training event at Kearney Regional Medical Center!

Child Passenger Safety Technicians, Proxies and Instructors joined us for hands‑on training with a wide variety of current car seats—giving techs the chance to deepen their knowledge, compare features, and better understand which seats best support families with different lifestyles, mobility needs, and vehicles.

We welcomed technicians from Kearney County Health Services, NCHS–HFA in North Platte, Nebraska Safety Center, Sixpence Home Visitation with KPS, Children’s Physicians of Kearney, Kearney Police Departmentt, Suite Child, Safe Kids Platte Valley, and our own KRMC team. Additional groups gathered online from Children’s Indian Hills North in Omaha, Mary Lanning Healthcare, and Loup Basin Public Health Department—making this a truly statewide collaboration.

A huge thank you to Safe Kids Nebraska and Safe Kids Platte Valley for organizing this event, and to KPD, Suite Child, and local moms for coordinating rotating car seats for hands‑on learning.

Together, we brought 44 years of combined car seat expertise into one room—helping ensure safer travel for children across the Kearney area and beyond. 💙

We’re kicking off a busy week of transit training across Nebraska.
This morning started with Mitchell leading a First Aid and CPR class in Kearney, setting the tone for several days focused on safety, preparedness, and professional development. Our team will be working with transit drivers in both Kearney and Chadron, covering a wide range of important topics, including defensive driving and how to manage difficult passenger situations. These trainings help ensure drivers are prepared not just for the road, but for the real-world challenges they face every day.

Thank you to everyone participating this week!
