The Kilgore Police Department was established in 1931 along with the City of Kilgore shortly after the Famous East Texas Oil Boom. During the boom Kilgore became the geographic center of the oil field and an acre of downtown Kilgore was given the title of “World’s Richest Acre.” Kilgore continues to have a major role in the oil industry. The Kilgore Police Department now serves a population of 13

We hold our motto “Serving our Community” as more than just words on paper but som**hing we put into action every day and all members subscribe to the Department’s core values of Service, Respect, Integrity, Professionalism, Accountability and Compassion. This concern is captured in our vision statement:

The Kilgore Police Department will set the standard for a safe and crime free community through service, professionalism and excellence in policing. This high standard will result in our citizens having a premier quality of life with a strong sense of security, free from crime and fear anywhere within the City of Kilgore. The Kilgore Police Department is committed to maintaining quality service for the Kilgore community with highly trained, professional and dedicated employees. High standards, quality training and a rigorous selection process ensure only the best police officers are selected for Kilgore and we continually strive to give our officers and employees quality equipment along with the latest technology available. The Kilgore Police Department is a full service department open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days of the year with access to administrative staff and the records department during normal business hours. On February 15, 2013, the Kilgore Police Department received the award of “Recognized Law Enforcement Agency” from the Texas Police Chiefs Association Law Enforcement Recognition Program. Begun in 2006, the Recognition Program evaluates a Police Department’s compliance with over 165 Best Business Practices for Texas Law Enforcement. These Best Practices were carefully developed by Texas Law Enforcement professionals to assist agencies in the efficient and effective delivery of service and the protection of individual’s rights. In recognition of National K-9 Day, we would like to highlight our dedicated K-9 units and their human partners.

Santo is a Patrol K-9 trained to sniff out illicit drugs, track lost individuals, locate suspects and lost articles, and conduct building searches for intruders. He also provides essential backup and protection for his partner.

Dodo is assigned to our school campuses. He is highly skilled in detecting illicit drugs, to***co products, alcohol, and gunpowder. Dodo is also trained to track missing children and, while he is not trained to bite, he is exceptionally friendly.

We would also like to recognize and extend our gratitude to their human partners, Officer Cortes and Officer Forbes, for their hard work and commitment to keeping our community safe.

We had a sweet little visitor who brought us some sweets her mom made. Mom owns Sweet & Crated Co., and we learned they have stocked goodies inside Secrets and Sweets in downtown Kilgore!
She is welcome back anytime!
We are always thankful for the community's support.

Dear Residents,

An ounce of prevention can keep Kilgore safe. Vehicle burglaries are largely preventable, as criminals rarely force entry; instead, they typically look for unlocked doors.

Please follow these tips to help reduce the risk of vehicle burglaries:

- Lock your car: Always lock your vehicle, even when it is parked in your driveway.
- Remove valuables: Do not leave any valuable items in plain view.
- Secure fi****ms: Never leave a firearm in a vehicle unless it is secured in a dedicated gun locker to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.
- Report suspicious activity: Call us immediately if you see anything suspicious. Please do not attempt to confront or scare off suspects yourself before calling, as law enforcement prefers to approach suspects undetected.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our community safe.

***Bust and Cuff***
During a traffic stop, the driver exited the car and was positioned at the front of the Officers Patrol Unit. While speaking with the driver, he attempted to discard a small tin-can with m**h. A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded more m**hamphetamine, fentanyl, meds, drug paraphernalia, and a .38spl revolver. A total of 32.3g of m**hamphetamine, 1.9g of fentanyl, 10.8g of acetaminophen w/codeine was located. The driver was arrested for POCS PG1 x2, POCS PG4, Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon, and tampering. Yep, he's in big trouble and settling down in the Bulldog B&B for the evening.
If you can't do the time, don't do the crime in Kilgore.

Last weekend, we saw several DWIs. Just plan ahead and stay home or find a driver. No one wants to stand in front of this instrument and be asked to give a specimen of their breath. If you refuse, and we have probable cause, we will apply for a warrant and get your blood.
All of this is unnecessary if you plan ahead.
Stay safe, and have a great weekend.

Last night, many of your First Responders were stuck out on I-20. With construction, it continues to be a dangerous location, so avoid it if possible. This westbound semi crashed in the construction zone and turned over. Two wrecker companies used their heavy wreckers to get him right-side up and out of the roadway, and Hazmat cleaned up the fuel.
The driver was okay and KPD put him up in a motel until someone from Mississippi could come pick him up.
Thanks to KFD, Kilgore Rescue, wreckers, and KPD for their hours long work.

Quick PSA

🚨 PSA: No need to be alarmed! 🚨

If you see a large police and fire department presence at the old high school today, please don’t be alarmed. This is a planned training exercise, not an actual incident.

Our first responders are putting their skills to the test and preparing for emergencies.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while our police and fire crews train to help keep our community safe. 🚒🚔

Again: training exercise only—no emergency is occurring.
