🦀 Creativity, skill, and a whole lot of crab! 🦀

High school culinary students from New Hampshire recently put their talents to the test at the 2nd annual Big Crab Cook-Off hosted by LRCC in partnership with Heron Point Seafood and the New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association Education Foundation.

Student teams crafted original crab dishes and were judged on taste, technique, creativity, and presentation. Congratulations to our top finishers:

🏆 1st Place: Portsmouth High School ($3,500)
🥈 2nd Place: Plymouth Regional High School ($1,500)
🥉 3rd Place: Mount Washington Valley Career and Technical Center ($1,000)

We were incredibly impressed by the talent, professionalism, and creativity displayed by all five competing schools.

Thank you to Heron Point Seafood for sponsoring the event and helping create this outstanding hands-on learning opportunity for future culinary professionals!

We had so much fun hosting our pie-eating contests and watching our contestants dig in.

A big thank you to our celebrity pie eaters: Fred Caruso of Mix 94.1 FM, Jennifer Anderson of Laconia Bike Week, Julie Hirshan Hart of the Laconia Daily Sun, Joseph Baeta of Laconia High School, and our champion pie eater, Jennifer Kelly representing the Greater Lakes Region Children's Fund! 🏆

About last night.... ✨

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our team (Patrick Cate, Lisa Somerville, Forrest Powers, and Jan Bryson) at the Improv Olympics. 💙

We had a great time and were thrilled (and shocked!) to take home 1st place. 🏆 We know that honor had just as much to do with the generosity of our supporters as it did with our performances on stage. 🤣

We also enjoyed getting to know the teams from New Beginnings, Partnership for Public Health, and WestBridge. Thank you for joining us! And a special thank you to The Winnipesaukee Playhouse for hosting such a fun event and supporting these worthy causes.

🚑 Learning by doing. Preparing to serve. 🚑

Last weekend, our EMT students sharpened their skills through hands-on training designed to prepare them for both clinical and field settings. From practicing critical patient care techniques to building confidence in real-world scenarios, these future emergency responders gained invaluable experience. 🙌💪

A big thank you to LRCC’s Student Senate for hosting a Halloween celebration of food, treats, games, prizes, and a costume contest!

Students put their creativity on display, helping carve 50 pumpkins that will be featured at this weekend’s Laconia Pumpkin Festival. 🎃✨ There was also a mummy wrapping contest where teams raced to the finish.

Thanks to everyone who joined us and helped make the event a success! And a special thank you to Lake Libations for the amazing decorations!
