🚨Community Member and LWPD Officers Receive Life Saving Award🚨

At the May 19, 2026 City of Lake Worth City Council meeting, Officer Thompson, Officer Myers, and Mr. Michael Parisi received the Life Saving Award due to their efforts on March 28, 2026.

From the Citation:

On March 28, 2026, Officer Thompson, while en route to work, observed an individual sitting on the ledge of the I-820 bridge over Lake Worth in apparent distress. Recognizing the immediate danger, Officer Thompson stopped, notified communications, and attempted to make contact. As he approached, the individual jumped from the bridge into the water below. Officer Thompson maintained visual observation and relayed critical information to responding units.

Officer Myers responded to the Lake Worth Boat Docks, where he located the individual in the water. With urgency, Officer Myers enlisted the assistance of Mr. Michael Parisi, who provided his personal boat. Together, they navigated to the individual’s location and successfully rescued him from the water, preventing imminent drowning.

Through decisive action, seamless coordination, and a shared commitment to preserving life, Officer Thompson, Officer Myers, and Mr. Parisi brought a critical incident to a safe resolution. Their combined efforts not only prevented a tragic loss of life but also exemplify the highest standards of courage, professionalism, and public service, for which they are hereby awarded the Life Saving Award.
