MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a U.S. Citizen

Applicants must meet ONE of the following:
• Hold a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Certification,
OR
• Be eligible for TCOLE Certification
(Refer to Texas Administrative Code Title 37, Chapter 217.1 for details)

AND meet ONE of the following:

• 45 college credit hours with a 2.0 GPA or higher, OR
• Two years of service in the United States Armed Forces with Honorable Discharge or active reserve status, OR
• Two years of experience with the City of Lake Worth and two consecutive annual evaluations rated meeting expectations or above.

Lake Worth, we are 4 weeks out from our 2026 National Night Out!

Join us for our annual National Night Out event on October 6th from 6pm-8pm at City Park East (3501 Roberts Cut Off).

This event is completely FREE and available to all members of our community.

What's National Night Out? It's an annual community event that brings neighbors and local law enforcement together to build relationships, promote safety, and strengthen community spirit. 😀🎉

It’s a fun, family-friendly evening with activities, food, and a chance to meet your local first responders. 🚓🚒

Our Grillin' Unit will be cooking up free hot dogs. 🌭🔥👨‍🍳

FREE 🍧 Micholandia popsicles with a raffle ticket that you will be able to receive from any of our department members at the event.

On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, our community had the honor of recognizing Officer Margraf and Officer Caudle as they received Lifesaving Awards from Chief Leonard during the Lake Worth City Council meeting.

"On July 30, 2026, Officer Margraf and Officer Caudle were dispatched to the Azle Avenue overpass of Interstate 820 regarding a citizen in distress. Upon arrival, they observed the individual had climbed over the guardrail and was clinging to a street sign above the highway. The officers quickly approached, secured a firm hold of the citizen, and pulled them back to safety.

Through their decisive actions, Officer Margraf and Officer Caudle brought a critical incident to a safe resolution. Their coordinated efforts not only prevented a tragic loss of life but also exemplified the highest standards of courage, professionalism, and public service. For their actions, they are hereby awarded the Life Saving Award." - Assistant Chief Tim Mabry
