Officer William Leggett joined the LVMPD in 2019, after a career in landscaping with the Clark County School District. Growing up in Las Vegas, Leggett felt a strong responsibility to give back to the community that raised him. He decided to pursue a career in law enforcement and make a difference in that community he always called home.

Since joining, Leggett has worked in several roles within the Northeast Area Command, including patrol across all shifts, Field Training Officer, and Community Oriented Policing. These assignments have allowed him to experience different aspects of policing, help mold new officers, and build meaningful relationships with the community. He is currently assigned to the Office of Community Engagement with the Black Community Alliance. Looking ahead, Leggett hopes to promote to sergeant when the time is right.

Leggett says one of the things he loves most about Metro is the opportunity for growth. With countless paths to explore, he appreciates the ability to take on new challenges, develop as a leader, and continue growing both personally and professionally. His advice to anyone considering a career with Metro is to come in with an open mind, be willing to learn, stay humble, and take advantage of every opportunity. He says that if you’re willing to put in the work, Metro offers a rewarding career with endless opportunities to grow.

Thank you for all you do for the LVMPD and our community, Officer Leggett!

Know Your CO!

Damina Robertson joined the LVMPD in 2014, after earning her Master’s Degree in Social Work and working in behavioral health. Inspired by her father, who was also a Corrections Officer, Robertson decided to pursue a career in corrections. The opportunity to receive better pay and benefits while continuing to use her social work skills in a correctional setting made becoming a CO the right fit for her.

Since joining the department, Robertson has worked in the North and South Tower Bureaus, Booking, at the North Valley Complex, and Field Services. She is currently assigned to the Wellness Bureau as a Peer Support Liaison, where she helps employees through times of need.

Robertson hopes to one day test for Peer Support Manager and eventually become the Director of Wellness. What she loves most about being a CO is helping others and knowing she has made a difference in their lives, first with the inmates she supervised and now, most importantly, with the employees she supports in her current role.

Officer Austin Zade Abdelnabi was laid to rest Saturday in Greer, South Carolina, surrounded by family, friends, fellow Marines, law enforcement officers, and a community that came together to honor his life and sacrifice.

The support shown to the Abdelnabi family and the LVMPD family throughout this difficult journey has been extraordinary. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina Troopers Association Caisson Unit, the many law enforcement agencies, organizations, businesses, and South Carolina community partners who helped make Officer Abdelnabi’s funeral possible.

Members of the LVMPD Honor Guard also traveled to South Carolina to stand alongside Officer Abdelnabi’s family and assist in honoring our fallen brother.

To everyone who donated, volunteered, stood along the procession route, offered prayers, or simply showed up, thank you. Your kindness and support will never be forgotten.

Officer Austin Zade Abdelnabi made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our community. He will forever be remembered, forever honored, and forever part of the LVMPD family💙

Honoring Our K9 Heroes 🐶

A special moment at LVMPD Headquarters today as we recognized two of our K9 partners. Nami, a supporter of the LVMPD Foundation’s Best of the Badge, generously donated two commemorative pavers honoring K9 Tony and K9 Leico.

Members of our K9 team joined together for the unveiling and to thank Nami for her generosity and continued support of our officers and four legged partners.

Thank you, Nami, for helping honor the dedication and service of K9 Tony and K9 Leico!
