LCFS is a non profit agency focused on getting children healthy and ready to succeed in school. Just as simple as that! Enroll in PAT and apply for the voucher.

DSS Vouchers and Parents as Teachers
This is a new partnership with SC DSS. When you enroll in Parents as Teachers (PAT) through Laurens County First Steps, you will be qualified to apply for a DSS Voucher. Call our office for more information. Training for Child Care Providers

Laurens County First Steps provides quality training and professional development for childcare providers in licensed centers throughout Laurens County. The sessions are held locally and at no charge (or a nominal cost) to the centers and their employees.

4K Classrooms in Child Care Centers

We collaborate with the State Office of First Steps to support Child Care Centers who qualify to have on site private 4K First Steps class. Currently children are being served in 2 childcare centers in Laurens County. The class is free to eligible children. For more information about eligibility for our programs

As Director of Child Care Training for Laurens County First Steps, Kathryn Meadows does an amazing job of coordinating SC Endeavors certified training classes for child care professionals in our community. These quality sessions are well attended and offered to no cost to participants.

Earlier this week Speech Language Therapist Tonya Hayes, M.Ed. presented "Let's Chat M-CHAT! 7 Strategies to Target". This 2.5 hour class was interactive, engaging, and filled with practical classroom strategies.

📸 PHOTOGRAPHER NEEDED: Help Us Capture a Family Memory! 🎃🍂

Laurens County First Steps is seeking a photographer willing to donate their time and talent to provide family portraits for families participating in our Parents as Teachers program. We have 16 families enrolled in our Program.

📍 Stewart Farms Pumpkin Patch

Each fall, Laurens County First Steps hosts our Parents as Teachers families for a special afternoon at the pumpkin patch. As part of the experience, we would love to give each family a keepsake to treasure long after the pumpkins are gone—a professional family portrait.

❤️ For some of our families, this may be their only opportunity to receive a professional photograph of their family.

We are seeking a professional or experienced photographer willing to provide photography services pro bono during the event. Your gift of time and talent would give our families more than a photograph—it would give them a lasting memory of this season in their family's life.

Our Parents as Teachers September group meeting was held this week at the Laurens County Library. Our wonderful guest speaker was Kira Williams-Charles, MHS, Healthy Start - Upstate Consortium Coordinator/Health Educator, from Prisma Health. This event was well attended, and the PAT participants were actively engaged in this important presentation.

Thank you to Mrs. Williams-Charles and the Laurens County Library youth staff for making this group meeting a successful event for Laurens County First Steps' Parents as Teachers families.

Laurens County First Steps is thrilled to be part of the celebration! While you’re at the Capitol Theatre, be sure to stop by and take a photo with our life-sized Dolly cutout. 📸🦋

In honor of Give Like Dolly Day, you’ll also have the opportunity to support Laurens County First Steps’ Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides free, high-quality books each month to children from birth to age five throughout Laurens County.
