In early May, Beacon Development Group made MEND part of their work retreat by gathering and organizing items to donate to the Community Cupboard. Overall, their team donated 528 pounds of food and other essentials. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to helping the Upper Valley community!

"We develop affordable housing around the state, but we are especially thrilled to get out from behind our desks and connect with UVM and your community in a more direct and tangible way," said Beacon Vice President Brian Lloyd. "Thank you for letting us be a part of your collective effort."

"Beacon Development Group is humbled to support Upper Valley MEND, not only through volunteering but also through our shared belief in equitable access to affordable housing and food security," says Beacon Vice President Cindy Proctor. "Organizations like Upper Valley MEND are the heart and soul of rural communities, and we deeply appreciate the important work you do to support those who are most vulnerable. Thank you for inspiring us through your service!"

It's Farmers Market season! We're looking for volunteer gleaning leads to pick up extra produce at the end of each Leavenworth Farmers Market, including this Saturday, May 23!

The shift is roughly 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Saturdays during market season. No need to sign up for all of them, but if you're regularly available that helps with the gleaning coordinator with scheduling. Gleaners must have their own vehicle and be able to lift 30-40 pounds.

If you're interested, sign up for a one of the shifts on the website and MEND's Gleaning Coordinator, Orlando Pacheco Vazquez, will be in touch.
