Upper Valley MEND meets each need with dignity and envisions an empowered community with equitable access to food, housing, healthcare and emergency services.

Upper Valley MEND is a nonprofit overseeing the following programs:

- The Community Cupboard - a food bank for the residents of the Cascade School District.

- Emergency Assistance - financial assistance with rent, mortgage, utilities, and transportation.

- Das Thrift Haus - offering quality gently used clothes and household goods at a low cost. Proceeds support the Community Cupboard food bank.

- SHARE (Securing Homes on Affordable Real Estate) Community Land Trust - overseeing 20 permanently affordable homes for families.

- Upper Valley Free Health Clinic - providing free health care to our community's uninsured and under-insured every Monday night at Cascade Medical Center.

- Cornerstone Community - a supportive home for 6 adults with developmental disabilities.

The Free Clinic has been offering free medical care in the Upper Valley since 2000. Two key components of its resilience and sustainability are its dedicated volunteer team and its partnership with Cascade Medical Center, which has let the free clinic operate out of its space since the beginning.

🎃 We're less than 2 weeks away! 🎃

LIGHT THE NIGHT - FREE!
Oct. 31st from 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Our annual community carnival is fast approaching, and we're so excited for the neighborhood to gather! Invite your friends to join you for all the fun activities offered: carnival games, dinner and s'mores, a free professional photo booth sponsored by Summit Christian Academy, music, a visit from our local firefighters with their truck, and, of course, lots of candy! There is something fun for all ages!

This year, we're maximizing our impact and hope to spread God's light in our community by hosting a food & supply drive to benefit Upper Valley Mend and the Dwelling Place. Spread the word, pick up a few items from the list at lcn.org/events, and drop them off as you spend time at Light the Night. See you there!

Did you know 15 percent of the food the Community Cupboard distributes is from community donations? Many of those donations come in through community food drives that happen during the holiday season, which is just about to start!

We are so grateful for those donations. They help ensure MEND can continue to provide food to the people who shop at the Community Cupboard. During November and December, we offer holiday foods, too, and food drives help us cover the extra costs for those additional purchases.

We've put together a handy guide to help community-led organizations with their food drives ensure the process is easy as pie! ;)

In honor of make a difference day is tomorrow, the Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church is hosting a food drive at the Leavenworth Safeway to benefit the Community Cupboard. Stop by their table for a list of most needed items, then leave your donations with them for delivery to the Cupboard when you're done shopping.
The drive will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
