On May 27, 2026, at approximately 10:10 AM, a deer entered Mount Lebanon Elementary School after breaking through the glass window of a door. School staff acted quickly to ensure the safety of students and personnel while the animal moved through part of the building.

The deer was eventually confined to a staff room inside the school. Officers from the Lebanon Police Department, working alongside a member of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, were able to safely remove the deer from the building.

The deer was subsequently released back into the wild.

The Lebanon Police Department would like to thank school staff, responding personnel, and New Hampshire Fish and Game for their cooperation and quick response in safely resolving the incident.

The Lebanon Police Department proudly joins law enforcement agencies across the nation in recognizing National Police Week, observed this year from May 10, 2026 โ€“ May 16, 2026. National Police Week honors the service and sacrifice of Law Enforcement Officers who work tirelessly to protect their communities.

National Police Week was established in 1962 when President John F. Kennedy designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which it falls as National Police Week. The week serves as a time to honor and remember Law Enforcement Officers who have lost their lives or were injured in the line of duty while serving their communities.

Throughout the week, the Lebanon Police Department acknowledges the dedication, professionalism, and commitment demonstrated daily by Officers, dispatchers, civilian staff, and public safety partners who serve the City of Lebanon. Lebanon Police Officers work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to protect and serve the community, responding to emergencies, assisting those in need, and helping maintain public safety throughout the city.

โ€œNational Police Week is an important opportunity to recognize the men and women who dedicate themselves to serving others, often under difficult and challenging circumstances,โ€ said Chief Phillip Roberts. โ€œI am proud of their professionalism, compassion, and unwavering commitment to this community. We are grateful for the continued support of our residents and remain committed to building trust, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all who live, work, and visit Lebanon.โ€

The Lebanon Police Department encourages community members to take a moment this week to recognize the service of law enforcement professionals and to remember the Officers nationwide who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Lebanon Middle School eighth graders recently spent the day visiting the Cityโ€™s Planning, Fire, and Police Departments as part of a shadow day experience. Students got a behind-the-scenes look at how different departments work together to support the community through hands-on activities, demonstrations, and conversations with staff.

While visiting the Planning Department, students learned about local projects, including the Mascoma River Greenway extension and a proposed e-bike charging station. The students enjoyed a tour of the Grand Army of the Republic Soldiers Memorial with the Heritage Commission staff, where they saw historic military service relics and monuments. Throughout the day, the two visitors learned about various aspects of City Planning and Development, including building, zoning, planning, GIS software management, and city history. They asked great questions about funding, safety, project locations, and how community feedback helps shape City decisions.

At the Fire Department, students practiced CPR skills, learned about emergency response equipment, and watched demonstrations from firefighters. At the Police Department, students explored patrol vehicles, learned about police operations, processed a mock crime scene, and participated in a mock trial, while also learning about the specialized equipment officers use every day.

Staff shared that the students were engaged, respectful, and excited to learn more about how local government works and how community projects come together. Thank you to the Lebanon Middle School students, teachers, and City staff who helped make the day such a fun and meaningful experience for everyone involved.

The Lebanon Police Department is proud to highlight the continued work of its Bike Patrol Unit, which plays an important role in community policing throughout the City of Lebanon.

Bike Patrol Officers provide a highly visible and approachable presence while allowing Officers to access areas not always easily reachable by cruiser, including parks, trails, downtown spaces, and community gathering areas. This mobility helps Officers engage directly with residents, visitors, and local businesses while proactively addressing concerns across the city.

Pictured are Corporal Dean Bullock and Officer Stephan Nix, two of the six Officers assigned to the Bike Patrol Unit.

The Lebanon Police Department remains committed to serving our residents, visitors, and community each and every day through proactive policing, community partnerships, and professional service.

On May 6, 2026, the Lebanon Police Department arrested Keith Guilbault, age 47, from Hartford, VT, following multiple incidents involving reckless driving, failure to comply with law enforcement officers, and narcotics possession.

The first incident occurred on May 6, 2025, at approximately 12:19 AM, when a Lebanon Police Officer conducting traffic enforcement on Interstate 89 observed a silver Ford Fusion traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. The Officer attempted to stop the vehicle near Exit 20 after observing speeds more than 120 miles per hour.

Despite emergency lights being activated, the vehicle failed to stop and continued northbound through the Veterans Bridge construction zone before crossing into Vermont. The vehicle later exited Interstate 89 and continued onto Interstate 91 northbound. Guilbault was later identified as the driver and a warrant for his arrest was obtained.

A second incident occurred on July 3, 2025, at approximately 12:29 AM, when Lebanon Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on the same silver Ford Fusion for an expired registration in the area of 67 Main Street.

During the stop, Officers confirmed Guilbault was the driver and had an active Lebanon Police Department arrest warrant related to the May incident. Officers instructed Guilbault to exit the vehicle; however, he refused to comply and became argumentative. As Officers attempted to remove him from the vehicle, Guilbault resisted, shifted the vehicle into drive, and fled the scene southbound on Main Street.

Lebanon Police initiated a pursuit as the vehicle traveled through several residential and commercial areas of the city. During the pursuit, Guilbault failed to stop at multiple stop signs and operated the vehicle at speeds significantly above the posted speed limit on Maple Street, a densely populated residential neighborhood.

The pursuit continued through the intersection of Dana Street, Main Street, North Main Street, and Bridge Street before the vehicle crossed into Vermont. Due to public safety considerations, Lebanon Officers terminated the pursuit once the vehicle entered Vermont.
New Hampshire extraditable warrants for both incidents were subsequently obtained for Guilbaultโ€™s arrest, and Lebanon Police Department had not had contact with him since those incidents.

On May 6, 2026, at approximately 1:00 PM, Lebanon Police Officers responded to a residence on South Main Street in West Lebanon to investigate suspicious activity. Officers encountered Guilbault inside a vehicle and took him into custody on the outstanding New Hampshire warrants without incident.

During the arrest, Officers located crack co***ne in Guilbaultโ€™s possession. As a result, Guilbault is now facing an additional felony charge for possession of crack co***ne.

The current New Hampshire charges include:
โ€ข Disobeying an Officer (2 counts)
โ€ข Reckless Operation (2 counts)
โ€ข Reckless Conduct
โ€ข Resisting Arrest
โ€ข Negligent Driving
โ€ข Felony Possession of Crack Co***ne

Guilbault was held on preventative detention, pending an arraignment in the Lebanon District Court on May 7, 2026.

Additionally, Guilbault is currently on bail in Windsor County, VT, related to a separate pending criminal case involving aggravated assault, simple assault, and resisting arrest stemming from an October 2025 incident. The incident was investigated by the Windsor County Sheriffโ€™s Department, where Guilbault allegedly assaulted law enforcement officers.

The Lebanon Police Department was assisted during todayโ€™s arrest by the Hartford Vermont Police Department, including the use of an on-duty K-9 Unit.

*The Lebanon Police Department reminds the public that bail decisions are made by the court, not by the police. *

The Lebanon Police Department was proud to once again participate in the Lebanon Youth Baseball Associationโ€™s Opening Day Ceremony on Saturday, May 2, 2026. This annual tradition brings together families, players, and community members to celebrate the start of a new season.

This year, Officer Peter Begin and Officer Felicia Figol had the honor of taking part in the festivities, helping lead players during the Opening Day parade. Officer Begin also threw out the ceremonial first pitch, officially kicking off the season.

Events like this highlight the strong partnership between the Lebanon Police Department and the community. The Department is grateful for the opportunity to support local youth, promote teamwork and sportsmanship, and continue building positive connections with the families we serve.
