Fergus County Clerk and Recorder The department also files birth and death records, federal tax liens, notices of action, attachments, judgments, executions and other miscellaneous documents.

The Fergus County Records department is responsible for the recording, scanning and indexing of deeds, mortgages, surveys, mining work, mortgage releases, power of attorney, military discharges and many other various documents. In addition, the department processes realty transfer certificates which are used by the State of Montana, Department of Revenue, to determine the market value of real prop

erty and must be included with every deed conveying real property. Our office also is the epicenter for Elections of Fergus County.

Notice is hereby given that regular* registration for the Lewistown High School Bond Election to be held on Tuesday September 29th, 2026, will close at 5:00 p.m., on Monday August 31st, 2026.
*NOTE: If you miss this regular registration deadline, you may still register and vote in the election by showing up at the county election office before 8:00 PM on Election Day. All active and inactive** electors of the Lewistown High School District are entitled to vote in this Special School election.
**Ballots will be automatically mailed to Active Electors only. If you are a registered voter and do not receive a ballot, contact the Fergus County election office to update your information as necessary to receive a ballot.
People who wish to register and who are not presently registered may do so by submitting a form for registration by mail, email, or by appearing at the county election office. If you have moved, please update your registration information by filling out a new voter registration form and submitting it to the county election office 712 W Main St, Ste 204 Lewistown.
