The school year is officially under way in our area! Today we helped our neighbors by doing an active shooter training for Winnett school, tomorrow we will be doing a training for Grass Range School. Summer flew by! Here’s to a fun, safe, and educational school year!!

Recently, using money from a grant we obtained through the Mason Moore Foundation and some impressive deal shopping from Sgt. Curry, we have outfitted our deputies with Heavy Ballistic Armor for high risk situations. This armor will be in every deputy’s patrol vehicle so they can throw it on for things like active shooter situations or executing search warrants. This armor gives our deputies that extra protection in dangerous situations! We are Very thankful to have these so our team is safe!

July is officially over, which was hot and busy! Fair week was filled with long hours for our crew in the heat, but they handled it with no problems! Fair week’s safety wouldn’t have been possible without Steve and Diane at DES. These 2 put together daily safety plans and briefings for all staff on the fairgrounds that aimed to keep everyone safe, to include minute by minute storm tracking.
We also want to thank our law enforcement partners that teamed up with us to cover the hours and events: Probation & Parole, US Fish & Wildlife, Judith Basin Sheriffs Office, and of course our amazing reserves!
The fair is a heavy lift, but working as a team with these agencies as well as the Fair Board, we achieved success. Thank you!

🔥No Burn🔥

The Fergus County Burn Permit system has been turned off for the near future. With the predicted high temperatures and Central Montana Fair this week we ask that everyone avoid any activity that unnecessarily could start a fire. Thank you.

On Sunday, July 12th Fergus County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a one vehicle accident on 191 North. While on scene, the driver of the vehicle passed away. Montana Highway Patrol is handing the crash investigation and we would like to thank Roy Fire, Roy Ambulance, and Lewistown Ambulance for their response and efforts.
The deceased individual was not a resident of Fergus County, and their name will be withheld pending family notification.
