Fire Danger for Friday, May 15th is Extreme, and a RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT.

ABSOLUTELY NO BURNING TODAY!

Thank you to everyone for heeding our recommendations yesterday; I'm happy to report that the Lisbon Fire Department didn't have any calls yesterday. But, today is not the day to think about lighting anything on fire, flicking a cigarette out your window or letting your trailer chains drag on the road. Very low humidity, coupled with dry ground conditions & high winds will make for a potent cocktail of fast fire spread. Please help keep our members & your neighbors safe!

Fire Danger over the next 2 days (Thursday & Friday) will be Very High, or Extreme, with RED FLAG WARNINGS in place for both days.

PLEASE, ABSOLUTELY NO BURNING!

Ground conditions, winds and extremely low humidity are in place or will be until we potentially get some rain on Sunday. These are nearly the same conditions that led to grass fires near Ray and Stanley that burned thousands of acres in 2024. A fire that starts today will spread quick and be extremely difficult to extinguish.

Please, please.. do not burn today or tomorrow., If you've burned in the last 48 hours, make sure it is fully extinguished

Starting at approximately 5:00 PM today, Wednesday May 13th, the Lisbon Fire Department will be conducting controlled burns along the river near the Sandager Park (Lisbon Park District) and Lisbon Bissel Golf Course. Watch for emergency vehicles moving and operating in this area through dusk.

The good news for today, Wednesday May 13th? The wind won't blow like it did the last two days, and there are no Red Flag Warnings in place for today.

The bad news? Both will return Thursday and Friday. A fire Weather Watch has already been issued for Friday, and I'd expect Thursday to be a high fire risk day as well.

If you decide to burn today.. ensure it's 100% extinguished before dusk tonight.

A bit out of the ordinary, but a RED FLAG WARNING has also been issued for Tuesday, May 12th.

ABSOLUTELY NO BURNING TODAY (May11) or TOMORROW (May 12) due to very dry ground conditions, high winds and low humidity.

Any fire that starts will quickly become hard to manage & spread fast. Please ensure any fires that were started in the last 48 hours are completely extinguished.

Thank you!
