Our office was thrilled to help facilitate the honorary naming of a street after Rev. Dr. Leonard A. Ramsey, who was the founding pastor of Greater First Timothy Missionary Baptist Church and a civil rights leader in Louisville. The unveiling ceremony this past weekend was attended by local, state, and federal government representatives, as well as community leaders, who all spoke to Dr. Ramsey’s work and legacy.

I was happy to welcome the MSD Summerworks interns to City Hall again this year. One of the most important parts of this job is reminding people that this is their government, and there are so many ways they can show up and get involved in efforts to make Louisville a better place.

I had the great honor of saying a few words before the opening of ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA at the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival last night. Our office was so excited that our Advisory Council decided to double our sponsorship for this summer’s festival and help Keep Will Free. This show will be running all weekend and also next week, with several more excellent shows to follow. Make sure to get to Central Park several times this summer and enjoy a night of free art right here in District 6.

Check out this great event and resource from the Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District, happening next week here in District 6!

Low Tunnels are a great addition to gardens. Adding hoops with various covers can support many different gardening activities including: reduction pest damage; frost protection and season extension. We will be helping the Shelby Park gardeners bend EMT conduit and install hoops over raised beds. Come learn alongside the gardeners about how low tunnels can support your gardening goals.
This is a WORKshop, which means you will be doing the work alongside Conservation District employees. Please come dressed to work outdoors. Closed toed-shoes, gloves and water and recommended for this activity. If you have questions, please contact Bethany Pratt, Environmental Educator at [email protected].
