Thank you to the folks who joined us last evening for an Artist’s Talk by Hannah Drake! If you missed the talk, the good news is that part of her “Childhood Interrupted” art installation will remain on the landscape here throughout most of the month of October. We are honored to share this powerful exploration of the experience of enslaved children in the United States. We invite you to experience her work while it is at Riverside. The grounds are open daily sunrise to sunset.

Join us for an Artist’s Talk by Hannah Drake on Wednesday, September 30 @ 6:30 PM beginning at the Riverside Visitors’ Center. This free presentation will be about the public art installation “Childhood Interrupted,” an exploration of the lives of enslaved children in the United States—with a special opportunity to see part of the installation and find out what’s next for the project. Hannah Drake is a nationally-recognized writer and artist and the co-founder of the (Un)Known Project. Learn about the life and work of 19th century New Albany painter George W. Morrison with author Albertus Gorman on Thursday, September 24th at 6:30 PM in our Visitors Center. Gorman’s soon-to-be-published book is the first comprehensive study of the life and work of an artist whose landscapes and portraits offer insights into the history of our region and its relationship to the Ohio River. This engaging free presentation is part of Riverside’s 2026 Local Writers, Local Connections Series. It was great to have Jessica K. Whitehead here to give a talk on her book "Driftwood: The Life of Harland Hubbard" yesterday on what turned out to be a beautiful evening on the Ohio River.
