Maya is joining us as a medically fragile SEA and is excited to support students, build connections, and be someone our Dragons can count on. ❤️

When asked why she chose Toki, Maya shared that she loves helping others and being someone people can depend on. We’re so glad that passion is bringing her to our community!

🐉We’re Growing Our Dragon Team!🔥

We are excited to welcome Ryan OLeary to Toki! Ryan is no stranger to our Dragon community. He completed his practicum at Toki in 6th grade science and then returned this spring to complete his student teaching experience in 7th grade social studies. Now, we’re thrilled to officially welcome him as one of our newest Toki educators! 💙💜

💬 Why Toki?
Ryan says he loves the community Toki builds between our staff, caregivers, and scholars. He appreciates how that sense of community helps make Toki a safe place for scholars to learn and grow, and he wants his classroom to contribute to the culture of community care that Toki embodies. ❤️

We’re so excited that Ryan chose to continue his journey with us! From practicum to student teaching to officially joining the Dragon family, we think it was meant to be.

🚧Construction Traffic Pattern Community Forum🚧

We’re planning ahead! As we look toward the construction of the new Toki Middle School and Orchard Ridge Elementary building, our community recently gathered for a Construction Traffic Pattern Community Forum to learn more about what access and traffic may look like during the upcoming project.

Scott, Susan, and Matt shared information about traffic and safety on Whitney Way, answered questions, and listened to feedback from community members. The goal is to make sure community voices are part of the planning process as the traffic plan takes shape.

📅 A final building plan is expected to be ready to share by the end of September, with construction on the new building scheduled to break ground in February 2027.

🐉 Our Dragon Family Just Got a Little Stronger!

We are so excited to welcome Rayna Briggs to Toki Middle School as our newest school social worker! 🎉

Rayna is joining us after spending the past four years at Huegel Elementary School, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her continue those connections here at Toki. Since Huegel feeds into Toki, Rayna has already built relationships with many of our students and families and understands how important the transition to middle school can be.

💬 “I chose social work because I value building meaningful relationships with students, understanding the challenges they may be facing, and helping them feel supported and successful. I believe middle school is a super important time for students as they navigate academic, social, and emotional changes.”

🐉Meet Our Newest Dragon: Gabriela Stark-Torrentera!💜

We are so excited to welcome Gabriela Stark-Torrentera to the Toki family! 🎉 Gabriela will be joining us as our 7th Grade Spanish teacher for the upcoming school year.

This isn’t her first time at Toki! Gaby Stark-Torrentera completed her practicum at Toki last fall, and we are thrilled to welcome her back...this time as a teacher! She recently graduated from UW-Madison School of Education and is beginning her teaching career with us. 🎓✨

"I am super excited to be teaching español at Toki because I hope to grow students' interest in learning a new language and learning about the world around them! I want students to discover new ways to make meaning and connect with others while having fun with language learning in my class."

Our MTSS team, Miss Bee, Ms. Z, Ms. J, Principal Mays, and AP Avalos, spent part of their summer preparing for the upcoming school year! 📚✨

They’re working together to strengthen systems of support, plan for student needs, and make sure our dragons have what they need to thrive, learn, and grow from day one. 💙🐉

A huge thank you to 6th grade ELA teacher Ms. Haven Traore and former Toki teacher (and wonderful neighbor) Ms. Amelia Ramirez for spending time cleaning up the garden beds and pulling weeds to help keep our garden growing strong! 💚

🌿 Students, families, neighbors, and staff are all invited to stop by, enjoy the garden, and harvest what's ready. Take what you'll use and help us share the bounty with our community!
