On Memorial Day, our community came together to honor the service members who gave their lives in defense of our country.

Residents, veterans, first responders, elected officials, and community leaders gathered to remember and recognize their sacrifice. From the Presentation of Colors to the heartfelt remarks and musical tributes, the ceremony served as a reminder that Memorial Day is about those who never made it home.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in honoring the fallen and helping ensure their service and sacrifice are never forgotten.

Milton parents and teens, now that school is out and summer plans are coming together, here’s an opportunity to do something different this July!

Milton PD’s Teen Police Academy gives teens ages 14-19 an inside look at law enforcement through hands-on activities, real-world scenarios, and time spent learning directly from officers.

Participants will:
• Learn CPR skills
• Experience the rollover simulator
• Explore criminal and accident investigations
• Hear from North Fulton SWAT
• And much more

It’s free, local, and designed to give teens a better understanding of the work, teamwork, and decision-making that happens every day in policing.

The deadline to apply is Friday, June 12, by the end of the day.

For details, contact Officer Sanford at [email protected] or visit www.miltonga.gov/teenpoliceacademy.

Memorial Day is a time to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country and the people they loved.

Behind every name etched into history is a family, a story, and a sacrifice that never stops being felt.

We are grateful for those who answered the call to serve and paid the ultimate price protecting freedoms we experience every day without a second thought. Their courage and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

From all of us at the Milton Police Department, we remember and honor the fallen this Memorial Day.

Police Week may be over, but moments like this are worth sharing!

A few days ago, we received an email from a community member who shared that she and her friends attended the blood drive at Stonecreek Church. Along the way, they had the chance to meet and talk with several members of our department, including Officer Ma, and left with a few Milton PD shirts as a thank you!

It was a reminder that our community continues to show up in meaningful ways, whether it’s through a conversation, a handshake, or a blood donation that could help someone they’ll never meet.

To everyone who donated, volunteered, or simply took the time to stop by during Police Week, THANK YOU! Milton’s community support is something we never take for granted.

Hope your weekend puts you in as good a mood as Sgt. Pereira heading into Friday.

If it starts with this kind of energy, you’re obviously doing it right!

Be safe, Milton! We are here if you need us.

Summer break is officially here!

SLO Ma wrapped up the school year with some familiar faces from Ms. Kaskade’s 1st grade class at Crabapple Crossing Elementary School, a group he’s spent time reading with throughout the year. From story time to hallway hellos, it’s the kind of connection that makes being part of the school community so meaningful.

Before the final bell rang, several students also made sure to stop by with yearbooks in hand for one more important assignment, getting SLO Ma’s signature. Safe to say, he may have signed just as many yearbooks as the teachers by the end of the day!

He also received quite the collection of handmade cards and notes from students; each one a reminder of the friendships built throughout the school year.

Wishing all of our students, teachers, staff, and families a safe, fun, and well-earned summer break!

A few thank you letters turned into a pretty special visit for some Summit Hill Elementary students and our Criminal Investigations Division.

During Police Week, SLO Sanford encouraged second and third grade students to write letters to Milton PD’s CID Unit. The notes were thoughtful, encouraging, and a reminder that even small gestures can mean a lot.

To return the favor, members of CID stopped by the school with goody bags for the classes and a big thank you of their own.

Moments like these matter!

Last week, we had the opportunity to pause and recognize the people behind the work that keeps this department and community moving forward every day.

As Chief Jason Griffin shared during the ceremony, “Each award tells a story. Some stories are quiet examples of steady commitment. Others are moments of danger, urgency, and bravery that remind us of the seriousness of this profession.”

Mayor Peyton Jamison also reminded everyone that public safety is deeply personal. “It is a badge. It is a family waiting at home. It is a call answered in the middle of the night.”

We recognized Store Manager Stephanie Curtis and the team at Home Depot Store #149 with the Citizen Service Medal for their continued support of public safety efforts in Milton.

Officer Michael Piurkoski received the Military Service Award for his service in the United States Army. Officer Ingrid Smith and Sergeant Luke Hayduk earned Instructor Ribbons for helping develop others within the profession. Officer Julia Ross was recognized for earning her master’s degree, while Detective Randy Dula and Lieutenant Logan Pacheco were honored for advanced leadership and professional education accomplishments.

Records Clerk Veronica Hernandez was named Civilian of the Year for the professionalism and support she brings to the department every day.

Officer Joshua Harrell received the Lifesaving Award for actions that directly protected the life and safety of another person during a critical incident.

Sergeant Luke Hayduk was also named Supervisor of the Year for the leadership and mentorship he brings to the department.

Sergeant David Little was presented with the Purple Heart, Combat Cross, and Medal of Valor for extraordinary courage and actions taken under extremely difficult circumstances.

Crime and Intelligence Analyst Jammie Peters received the Chief’s Award for Excellence for the impact of her work.

Officer Shi-Peng Ma was named Officer of the Year, recognized for the professionalism, service, and leadership he demonstrates throughout the community.

To all of this year’s recipients, congratulations and thank you!

Birmingham Falls Elementary traded textbooks for tires and lights with an end-of-year Touch-A-Truck event, giving students a chance to get an up-close look at some of the vehicles they see out in the community every day.

SLOs Pishock and Ma, along with Motor Officer Jackson, spent time showing students around a patrol cruiser and police motor, answering questions, checking out equipment, and talking about what they do on the job.

A great way to close out the year and connect with some potential future first responders!

This scam text is making the rounds again, and yes, it is still fake.

Residents are reporting text messages claiming they owe an “outstanding traffic ticket” and warning that their license or registration will be suspended if they do not pay immediately.

Don’t click the link. Delete the message and block the sender.

A few quick red flags:
• Georgia DDS will not text you demanding payment
• Some texts are coming from international phone numbers
• The wording is designed to create panic and urgency

If you ever have questions about your license or driving status, go directly to the official Georgia DDS website instead of clicking links sent by unknown numbers.

Scammers want quick reactions. Take a second, slow down, and verify before you click.
