A new can opener may sound like a small thing—but in our kitchen, it makes a BIG difference!

With hundreds of cans opened each week, our new commercial can openers are saving our staff and volunteers countless hours of prep time and making it easier to get meals out to our neighbors.

Less time opening cans means more time preparing, cooking and serving the thousands of meals our community is counting on.

We are so thankful for the tools, donors and partners who help make our work easier and more efficient every day!

Please join us in celebrating The Gathering Board Member, Dr. La Tivia Carr, who was recently named Nurse Executive of the Year!

Her journey began with a briefcase her mother gave her as she prepared for her first acute-care interview as a CNA while entering nursing school. What she laughed about at the time became a lasting reminder that her mother believed in her before she fully understood what was possible.

From that first interview to Nurse Executive of the Year, La Tivia’s journey is one of leadership, perseverance and purpose.

We are incredibly proud to have La Tivia serving on The Gathering’s Board and grateful for the leadership and heart she brings to our mission.

From September 15 through October 15, The Gathering proudly honors the rich cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities—here in Milwaukee and throughout our nation.

Food has a beautiful way of bringing people together. Around a shared table, we exchange stories, celebrate traditions, build friendships, and discover that we have far more in common than we may realize.

At The Gathering, everyone has a place at the table. We celebrate the diversity that strengthens our neighborhoods and makes our community feel like home.
