Employ Milwaukee offers an IT Pre-Apprenticeship program also referred to as TechHire IT bootcamp training. To learn more about this program visit: https://www.employmilwaukee.org/Employ-Milwaukee/Programs--Services/Adult-Youth-Programs/TechHire-.htm

Success Story: Aaron M. a career changer and graduate of the IT Pre-Apprenticeship program:
“Being back in the classroom was very exciting for me, and I quickly felt that even after TechHire was done I wanted to continue my education in IT. While in the TechHire IT pre-apprenticeship training, I obtained an internship working on taking apart and working with Chromebooks utilized by students at school districts across the USA. I then obtained another internship in IT Help Desk Support, which I felt was better suited to my skill sets. I continue to work full-time in IT Support while pursuing my Associates degrees in IT Web and Software Development and IT Information Systems Security.”

The TechHire program is a bold multi-sector initiative to empower and train American workers in the information technology field with skills they need, through universities and community colleges, but also through nontraditional approaches like “boot camps” that can rapidly train workers for wel...

Thanks so much to Mayor Tom Barrett for the shout out of appreciation and recognition of Employ Milwaukee and our Earn & Learn Community Work Experience partner worksites and students on their creativity and resilience in carrying out summer employment opportunities for youth.

As the only one of three separate Earn & Learn programs not canceled due to COVID-19 this summer, this recognition is truly appreciated for the perseverance and diligence of our 40 partner organizations and 400-plus youth workers, including our representative partner here, All Hands Boatworks and “rock star” youth worker, Jaylen!! Kudos on a job well done!! ✊🏾👊🏾👍🏾🎉🎊

I’m pleased that we have been able to continue to invest in our youth and our neighborhoods this summer through the EARN & LEARN Youth Program. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, 40 organizations and 423 young people took part.

We have a moral obligation to create hope in the lives of young people, and EARN & LEARN is one way we can accomplish this. I want to thank everyone involved in making this summer’s program a success.
