PSP has an exciting new volunteer opportunity for the summer! Every month, we host on-site birthday parties for children residing at our downtown shelter. We are looking for volunteers who’d be interested in helping us set up and host these activities for our families on June 16, July 21, and August 18. https://loom.ly/V3gFQ7k

Join us on Thursday, June 25th, to celebrate and support People Serving People at the "We Love Our City" event, generously hosted by Sherman Associates, Inc.. We Love Our City is a community celebration bringing together partners, neighbors, and nonprofit leaders to honor the organizations that serve and strengthen Minneapolis every day: People Serving People, Hennepin Healthcare Foundation, The Sanneh Foundation, and Project for Pride in Living.

There will be live music and heavy passed appetizers, as well as opportunities to connect with PSP staff and hear from PSP CEO Hoang Murphy. We hope to see you there! Ticket sales will support PSP and the other non-profits — register at https://bit.ly/43L3OeN.

We Love Our City unites partners and neighbors to celebrate community, honor impact, and support four local nonprofit organizations.

Families came together in joy and community at our annual American Indian Heritage Celebration yesterday! Parents and their children savored a delicious Indigenous-inspired meal, enjoyed face painting, got creative with beading and button-making activities, and enjoyed performances featuring traditional singing, dancing, and drumming.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing staff, dedicated community partners, and enthusiastic volunteers for making this joyful celebration truly unforgettable!

Our bill requesting $4.75 million to help fund our $11.5 million Downtown Shelter renovation was NOT funded this session. We believe in “both-and” solutions that save taxpayers money and keep families together by investing in family preservation. We will continue to ask for families to be prioritized at next year's session.

Thank you to Sen. Bobby Joe Champion and Rep. Sandra Feist for authoring our Facilities Radvocating on behalf of families. You can learn more about our efforts and how you can help at https://bit.ly/4wDfY6I

🌺 Happy Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! 🌺

This month, we proudly celebrate the strength, culture, and traditions of our Asian and Pacific Islander families and staff. Your stories, resilience, and vibrant heritage enrich our shelter community every single day. Thank you for sharing your journeys and for helping us build a place of belonging for all.

Let’s continue to celebrate and uplift one another—not just this month, but always.

This National Foster Care Awareness Month, we want to uplift Fosters, many of whom experienced homelessness as children and then experience or re-experience homelessness as adults. In fact, experience with the Child Welfare System and Foster Care is one of the biggest predictors of homelessness as an adult. Up to 30% of Fosters experience homelessness in their transition to adulthood.

A state-wide shelter guarantee is one step toward disrupting poor outcomes for Fosters. This ensures that many families experiencing homelessness can stay together. Right now, Hennepin County Government is the only county in Minnesota with such a guarantee, resulting in better outcomes for families.

Happy Mother’s Day! Every year, we celebrate the moms staying in our shelters with special gifts and activities. This year, each mom received a gift bag courtesy of our generous board member, Caprice Wilson. She assembled and donated more than 125 bags, each with a personalized card and loaded with goodies.

The moms at our shelters inspire us every day with their compassion for others and their commitment to their families. Single mothers make up the majority of the families we support. This , consider how you can give, volunteer, and advocate to support mothers who are caring for their children while experiencing the trauma of homelessness: loom.ly/5bNTtBc!

Can you believe that it’s already been two years since St. Anne’s Place became a part of People Serving People? In honor of this special occasion, staff and community members gathered for an Open House at St. Anne’s Place earlier today. The shelter was filled with celebration, food, and fellowship!

It was a wonderful opportunity for folks to reflect on the impact of St. Anne’s Place and learn about the latest updates to the shelter’s programs and space.
