Job Announcement

Laborer Job Summary
Must be over 18 years old
Starting out at full rate $23.15 plus 3% for the next two years.
180 day probationary period (no benefits until 180 days)
Benefits include: Medical, dental, vision, disability, pension contribution and life insurance. Paid holidays, sick days and vacation.
This position is to serve as a laborer of the Township of Potter Road Department, carrying out a variety of road and township maintenance related tasks. This position requires experience in highway maintenance and repair, mechanical ability, record keeping and communication skills. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, and requires a flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays, as well as overtime and call outs. This position is a Union position.

Level of Responsibility
The laborer works under the direct supervision of the Road Foreman.

Major Duties
The Laborer's duties shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Operating various types of vehicles in a wide variety of street maintenance tasks including spreading salt, plowing snow and grass cutting.
• Performing light to heavy manual labor and able to lift up to at least 50 lbs.
• Performing maintenance on equipment and checking equipment making sure all safety mechanisms are in proper operating condition.
• Gathering materials and equipment required to complete jobs.
• Operating equipment and/or tools as needed to function with a job site work team or to otherwise complete daily work.
• Complying with all Township personnel policies, and State and Federal regulations.
• Following directions regarding proper safety procedures.
• Complying with crew drug testing requirements.
• Performing such other work as deemed necessary by Road Foreman.

Qualifications
The Laborer will have the following qualifications:
• Possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have valid driver’s license
• Prior public works or related construction work experience.
• Experience driving trucks, plowing snow and operating heavy equipment.
• Experience in operating Zero-Turn mowing machines, w**d wackers, chainsaws etc...
• Ability to perform routine service and maintenance of Township Highway equipment.
• Able to communicate with general public and work well as a team player.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.

Term of Employment
The laborer will be hired by the Township Supervisors after successful completion of a medical examination and drug test, interview{s) and reference checks. Terms of employment, compensation and benefits will be set by the Union Contract.

Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time hourly position. Salary is non-negotiable and will start at a rate of $23.15/hour

Tax Collector office hours will be Saturday, April 18th from 09:00am to 11:00am at the Municipal building.

There will NOT be any office hours on Saturday April 25, 2026 due to a scheduling conflict.

Municipal Water Authority of Aliquippa:
On March 24th, customers who experienced loss of positive water pressure were advised to boil drinking water before using.
