This month, our deputy directors traveled to North Dakota for NASAO's annual convention!

Each year, NASAO brings state aviation officials together to discuss industry issues, share ideas on public funds and engage with unique aviation communities. Our team delivered a presentation on eLIFT-NC, highlighting how we plan to utilize the future of aviation to transform healthcare.

Yesterday marked two years since Hurricane Helene, and we'd like to give a huge thank you to the airports and teams that helped our relief efforts by expediting the delivery of resources and offering staff support.

We conducted daily flights - including over 300 drone missions - and captured more than 6,500 images to help survey damage and map impacted routes. Today, NCDOT continues to prioritize Helene recovery for our North Carolina communities.

For this quarter's Fully Autonomous Vehicle (FAV) Committee meeting, our staff and program partners shared presentations on our eLIFT-NC initiative. Members had the chance to tour Joby Aviation's autonomous J208 aircraft and talk with Joby's team about their supervised autonomy technology!

The FAV Committee meets to discuss laws and regulations regarding fully autonomous vehicles. Members serve to improve safety and help North Carolina prepare for this technology.

The future of flight is taking shape. 🚁
The FAA’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP) is transforming how we move through the skies! NCDOT will be conducting eIPP test flights from Dare County Regional Airport (MQI) to Raleigh-Durham International Airport, and from Raleigh Executive Jetport, Pitt-Greenville Airport and MQI from Sept. 17 to Sept. 24!

Led by the Executive Order on Unleashing American Drone Dominance, the United States is taking bold steps to safely integrate these next-generation technologies into the National Airspace System.
