Smooth skies ahead at the coast!

Billy Mitchell Airport is set to close Monday, August 17, to begin a runway rehabilitation project. In cooperation with the National Park Service, the project includes resurfacing all pavement at the airport and has an approximate duration of 90 days.

Our Windsock Program provides free windsocks to any public-use airport in NC to help reduce landing accidents caused by wind direction and strength.

Happy Amelia Earhart Day! Earhart is famously known as the first women to fly solo across the Atlantic, earning her the U.S. Distinguished Flying Cross.

Born on this day in 1897, Earhart was also a huge advocate for women's rights and supported the education of female pilots. She is remembered as a pioneering aviator who opened doors for women in science and technology!

This past June, NCDOT's HBCU interns got to take a tour of the Global TransPark (GTP) in Kinston.

This fall, the GTP is looking forward to completing their C-130 military aircraft maintenance facility, which is anticipated to create over 300 new jobs!
