What makes us different? Our policies and curriculum are based on what is best for children. We believe that creativity and problem solving can be taught.

MCS is a supportive educational community that promotes academic excellence through an integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) focused curriculum. Parents are very involved and are critical to the progress of the school, contributing in every way from helping in the classroom to serving on the Board of Directors. Teachers are chosen because of their demonstrated effectiveness and are given the freedom to teach in their own way. Our classes are small, maxing out at 22 children per class, most classes have aides and tutors. There are more computers in the classroom than you might be accustomed to seeing, we have a 1:1 ratio of Chromebooks to students. Computers, the Internet and other technologies are integrated into most classroom activities. We believe that early enrichment enhances the intellectual development of a child. We want our students to develop "successful intelligence" as well as academic skills. We believe that it is possible to individualize education within a group setting by conducting an accurate assessment of each child, aligning the curriculum from grades K-8th, and placing students in classes based on achievement data. We have specialists providing instruction in art, theater, music, physical education, and movement. Each child is encouraged to work at her/his highest level of capability. This is accomplished through block scheduling, that allows the flexibility to move students between grade levels.

🌎🧲 Big ideas, hands-on learning!

Our 8th graders are bringing the universe down to Earth! As part of their Observing the Solar System unit in Earth Science, students modeled the protoplanet hypothesis using magnets, iron filings, and small spherical pellets to explore how planets may have formed from smaller particles in the early solar system.

This is STEAM learning in action! By building models, experimenting with materials, and observing scientific concepts firsthand, our students are doing more than learning about science—they’re thinking like scientists! 🔬🚀

Our 5th grade students took their annual field trip to the Palouse Ice Rink this month! A huge thank you to the Science on Ice program for always providing a fun and educational trip centered around, properties of water, Newton's 2nd Law of Motion, and Rotational Motion.

Our 1st grade class was visited by their favorite football player and Vandal, Zach! He stayed half of the day and participated in story time, games, and even football during recess. Happy homecoming week, Idaho Vandals!
