Taco casserole, and peach cobbler for dinner. Thank you to Jesse Tamura for helping load the truck and packing the meals! While doing my serve, I came across this eccentric young man living his best life! I love those I serve!

We had an amazing donation today from a continued supporter. We are so blessed that he continues to support out outreach efforts. Thank you, Richard!

You may not know how far reaching your donations go, but they put us on a path to folks who often times, don’t believe they matter. I never would have met this young man if I didn’t have food, snacks or supplies to offer him. Because of your donations and supporting our fundraising efforts, we are able to offer these necessities.

There are several outreaches making sure he’s not alone and on the street, when his heart finally decides it can’t give any more. I personally try to connect my friends with estranged family before they pass. It’s for selfish reasons I do this because I don’t want them to have unspoken apologies, regrets or forgiveness to or from those who need to hear and feel it in their goodbyes.

Thank you for loving those you haven’t met. Thank you for trusting us to be the stewards of your hard earned dollars. Thank you for believing he is no less worthy of a dignified transition to a place we all hope awaits us, than those who we love. Simply, thank you.

Thanks again to The Stewards of Appalachia for our weekly supply of water (lots and lots), plasticware and trash bags. We are so grateful for this long time partnership and friendship!

Steak and fried ravioli is what’s for dinner. We love when freezers need to be defrosted or the food needs rotating because we get food to serve. That sometimes means steak!

We offer cold, wet and icy towels, to provide a little relief in this horrific heat. I’m not gonna complain because as I’m typing this, I’m sitting in the a/c
girl truck.

There are very few out today because of the temperature. I’m hoping they are staying in an air conditioned facility as long as they can, before being asked to leave. I’ve suggested they hop on a bus for the a/c and see the city, but they refuse because what little possessions they have, will get stolen.

Stay cool friends, and if you see someone flying a sign, please offer them a cold water if you happen to have an extra one in your car.

We often support other nonprofits for their efforts to fundraise. One of our favorite nonprofits is the Knights of St. John Chapter KSJ131. They have supported me with my former outreach, Jacob’s Ladder, and now my new nonprofit JACOB’S GENERATION. It takes a small village to cook for their golf scramble of about 120 participants. I have to recruit my daughter, Jessica Walker who did almost everything like chopping all the vegetables, opening all the cans and lifting all the heavy pots to drain for me. Jesse Tamura, smoked all the meat for the event. We are able to serve pulled pork, smoked beef brisket, mac and cheese, baked beans, green beans , coleslaw, and a brownie at $6.00 a plate. I think that’s pretty good. Glad it’s only once a year!

Sometimes there are casualties like catching a toenail on the freezer and dropping cabbage on the floor after all the work Jessica did to chop it.

Thanks for checking in and if we haven’t told you lately, we love you!
